Hi All! My son is scheduled to leave Dec 5. He was sworn in yesterday. While I'm excited I'm scared because he is my youngest son (21). I have so many questions but I don't want to bombard him. I heard leaving in Dec is different from any other month. Does anyone have any info, advice, suggestions

Hi, My son is 19, and has talked with a recruiter, and has taking his asvab testing. He is set to go to MEPS on Monday and Tuesday. I am just a concerned mom that needs info on everything because he just out of the blue decided on this very quick. Of course I support him, but he's very independent and doesn't want me around much. Do parents go to MEPS? Or do they just wait till they get sworn in? I hope I am in the right group and am doing this thing right. I'm excited but nervous for him.…

Yesterday my son went to MEP's and when made it to job selection there was only 1 job. His recruiter hadn't prepared him for this and what to do if there was not a job he wanted. They did let him call his recruiter who told him to take job and he can request a change. My son did this and we feel like it may of been the wrong choice. We feel like he was taken advantage of and they wouldn't let him call us to discuss. He was told he did qualify for many other jobs but nothing else was available. He wants some type of mechanic job. The recruiter says he request change of jobs all the time. Should I believe him? How long will it take to get a new job? My son wants to join the Navy but will back out if his job doesn't change. Our family is very upset on how this played out yesterday but praying that this will be fixed. Any advice? This was not a good way to start our Navy experience.
Nervous Momtag:navyformoms.ning.com,2018-10-23:1971797:Topic:104615082018-10-23T15:36:52.555ZAustinsMomhttps://navyformoms.ning.com/profile/AustinsMom

My son is leaving in 2 weeks for Boot Camp. The closer we get to the date my nerves are going awry. My husband and I are going to be empty nesters and i’m terrified.

This will the first time as I’m sure for a lot of us, that our house will be empty. We lost a daughter a few years ago at the age of 25 and it feels like I’m losing the other side of my heart. I know that’s not the case but it sure does feel like it.

I've gotten different info on letters I can send?
Was told they can only be in white envelopes and I don't know if that means just standard envelopes or if I can have a big envelope with say many letters in it. Can they be colorful et cetera I also heard about not using glitter and I want to be able to pass on this information to my family so they can write. Any fun ideas to put in cards letters??

Got my KIB today. Sad. Trying to stay excited and not let my fear overcome the excitement of my son being in the US Navy and the wonderful life and career he is about to have. This week, I've already fixed a plate for him, wondered what time he was getting off work, wondered if he had studied for his college test, and walked halfway to his bedroom. Hilarious! I was at grocery store yesterday and took 4 things he likes to eat out of the basket.
