Hi Vicki: You are in my prayers! None of us are perfect - well, I'm not - and glad of it! I have learned a lot here, and a lot of what you have said resonates with me. Our sailor has been in six years - and I know next to nothing. I just found the site a couple of month's ago. It does help to read here - I am trying to find a ship's news letter, etc. Maybe you can too. Do you know about one? Your Ombudsman will know. They have a site here -Meg and Regina are AWESOME! We are no where near where our sailor is - and have next to no communciation. I pray an intecessory prayer every day for his family - the they will accept whomever God sends into their lives. It helps my heart.~ you are in my prayers~s

Vicki, just come on in here and vent, you are one strong 'cookie' . And how do I know? Because you raised a spendid sailor, and the love for him and the Navy shows. I will be having deployment issues upcoming, so I know I am not looking forward to it either. But....I have N4M! What do my sailors have? I guess about a couple hundred fellow crewmates! I feel for you, really I do. So just come on back when the tears let up a bit so you can see, or even if they don't. We have ears to hear, shoulders to lean on.... :0{

My mother was the same - you couldn't touch a thing - washed the wood work to the point where the paint came off. While I don't do that - I'm lucky to get to the wood work once a year (if that)!
We have two dogs, and a grand puppy. Our 9yr old grandson lives close, and he is very comfortable here. It is a small house, so it is easy to be 'lived in'. It was lived out of when the kids were in high school - I wondered then if the door would ever shut for more than five minutes. Now, when it opens - it brings such joy that I don't care how much dust is around. Those who come in aren't looking at the dust - they came to visit.
It is wonderful to take the time to enjoy a good book or movie, and not worry about all the rest. It isn't going any where - and hasn't grown leggs to take care of itself - so when I'm ready it will be there for my attention.
You are so right - take the time for your self, and what makes you happy. I'm off work today - cleaning the office room - and organizing books. Wonder if I'll get caught in a good story - or make progress!?! It is always progress just whose percepton and how happy I am doing what I am doing. Have a great day, and love the space that you are in!

HI Jessica: Mine is a nuke also. He is deployed now. If you haven't found them there is a group of Nuke mom's also. I have learned a lot there. Tons of support, and help. They are awesome.
I did not mean to offend Barbara - or any one else. I don't think anyone here who has raised a sailor could or would be idol. I have had those hard times - and tought that others might also. I was trying to help and support.
I'll just read. I am deffinately on board for a better life for EVERYONE. These are very hard times for many of us.
God's Blessings to all - and those serving in the many avenues the Navy keeps us all safe.

Our sailor is deployed as well. It is a very different feeling when they ware working.
What a great comment to share Barbara! Thank you.
You are so right about tears Susie - I cry when I laugh. I've tried to stay away from sad movies - beacause it isn't fun to watch them when nobody is around. Funny, how I fill the time and space of all the 'emptyness'. I wonder now, how I missed doing some that I have the freedome to do now.
Have a great day!

Hi Helen: Hang in there. This IS very hard. We (at least myself and a few others) want to make the world a safe place for our children. The transition is very hard. Giving birth was easier! Our hearts squeeze so tight with anxiety that some times I think mine has shrank. Then, when you hear their voice, the pride and confidence that they have in who they are becoming. When you listen to the new friends and the skills that they are gaining for their lives it is so much more than we could ever imagine. You are in my prayers. Find a kids movie or something funny that will lift your heart. Or one of your favorites - I love watching "I LOVE LUCY". You are in my prayers.

Loved what it said below "I am a boot camp survivor?" LOL
How our world has changed. We are actually learning to enjoy the quiet time. Never thought I would say that. So, God has a plan, we just have to learn to go with the flow.

My baby boy is on his first deployment in the Gulf. Won't see him till April. It is normal for the ship to cut off all communications for a week or two. I just hate it.

PNM Sue:
I totally agree with you. My son is single; he doesn't know what he'll do 3 years from now; reenlist or get out, so I'm keeping his room just the way it is. We still have 2 guest rooms besides his room. I like that your kitties are using your son's room. How cute is that!!!
My husband hangs all of HIS laundry in our son's room to dry. I first it bothered me but now I'm used to it. I didn't like the thought that he might be "taking it over" lol
