For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Basically a computer tech, or possibly simply data entry. Their CREO isn't much better than FC as far as advancement goes. The sea/shore rotation has 48 months sea duty, rather than 60. Computers or weapons systems is the basic choice.

IT school is in Pensacola and spending the winter in Florida versus Chicago is tempting but to start all over with school again? Any moms have sailors that took them up on this?

Comment by ProudGMBarb on December 12, 2011 at 12:02am: About the NEX gift card...just a thought...if you can't get a NEX card, maybe a VISA gift card would be also good....because they can still use it at the NEX...or to go out to eat...or to buy something at the mall, go to a movie, etc. A bit more flexibility. Sometimes the NEX just doesn't have what they want.

thanks! jes is having some problems adjusting, trying to do too much by herself (stubborn as hell) between setting up her new house and dealing with her 3 year old but when she sees her big sister next weekend all will be good!
