For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Two years until transfer is common, although for many billets, an accompanied tour with dependents is three years. Also, a sailor may request to extend a tour for 12 months. If they are needed, it might be approved. Otherwise the detailer sends a new set of orders. They do get to request certain areas, and you bet they spend plenty of time on the phone with their detailer trying to find the perfect fit.

Melissa: I'm going to say for my intended career that there isn't the option of online. I want to become an Interior Designer... I don't think that art classes can be offered online. Lol!
So I suppose I just won't be able to move around with my boy... even though he is just my boyfriend right now, I don't know how much longer that will last. I guess we will see as soon as he gets out of boot camp on Feb 12.
