Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

Here's a thought: Ask the Public Affairs Office at Great Lakes directly what the consequences are for marrying PIR weekend. Their email is posted on the RTC site after all. Look for PAO.

The one chit at a time thing must be new, or a school thing. Because sometimes there are situations requiring two or more chits. I know, I signed enough of them. I have no idea why a chit should take so long, it gets signed and then moves up the COC.
BAH takes around eight weeks to kick in. If they are not authorized to move their dependent, they will get BAH for the Home of Record (where they enlisted). BAH is not automatic, they have to stay on top of PSD to get it done. I do know that to live offbase they must run a "Live Ashore" packet. I think they're supposed to be in phase two of liberty to do that.
Rules change in the Navy, and by command, so what some of us who were in, or have been in a long time, knew wqas true may no longer be right. But personally I'd be terrified of marrying PIR weekend when they are not even allowed to drive a car!

Clark County (which is Vegas) has four offices, open daily from 8 am to midnight. $60, $65 if paying by credit card. Then you have to pay the specialty chapel or the JP, plus the tip.
Now those are some convenient hours!!!!!

The courthouse in Vegas charged $25 22 years aggo. LOL. The one here in Weber charges $50.
See, if he's on hold waiting for school, he can put in a chit and request a day of special liberty. He even can ask what the probability of it being approved would be before you get there. I suggest Friday, they rarely start classes on Friday that I know about.

I looked up Escambia county clerk, they are not open on weekends. Even if you choose not be married by a chaplain, you still must go through that clerk to get your marriage license. Even if you go on Friday, he'd have to have the time off also; tricky in A school.
This is why most sailors wait until they're on leave, so they can have the day off to get the paperwork done.
Sorry to be such a downer! You'll find a way, I'm sure.

The court clerks are usually simpler, a base chaplain may not be available unless your sailor sets it up beforehand. Did you look up the hours and such online? Most counties have their laws and policies posted. You must get the license first, so start there, find out where and when you can get it, how much it costs, and what forms of ID you need, and if you need witnesses.

Emily... that's what is was when I was there, a log time ago. This may have changed, so you should try to find out from someone who graduated more recently. I know it isn't much of a ceremony still.

I understand! Emily, you can go to A school grad, just talk it over with him and explain how you feel. He then lets his instructors know so they will expect you. He shouldn't be embarrassed. If he says no, tell him Anti M says he is to do this for his wife because he loves her dearly. If he still says no, I will fly to Glakes and smack him upside the head.
