Hello everyone.  My son started boot camp today. He called to tell me he arrived safely, which is sort of funny since we live 40 minutes away.

We chatted for a few seconds more then he had to hang up.  My cell phone is my new best friend. He said that they might be able to call again in a few weeks.

And so it begins...

I am hanging in there. Good times and bad times. Glad to hear his voice. Now just waiting for the box and the form letter. Happy to have other moms to talk to when questions arise. None so far but glad to know that there are moms here that know what I am going thru.

Welcome jeanandy89 and medic mom!! How are you two holding up? We ALL have been there so we understand!

Jeanandy, I see you are from Naperville! I live in Carol Stream, we are practically neighbors. Next time there is a "Chicago" moms get-together, you should join us. Lots of terrific Navy moms for you to meet.

Jessica, Each month Molly's adopts a group. They send us a wish list of things they want and we ship them "goodie boxes"!  Go to Molly's Adopt A Sailor group page. On the right side of the page just below the pictures of the members, click on "New Moms Read First" That should give you information about what we do. Now, what is a packing party, you ask? Last Aug., Molly's won a bunch of money from Pepsi to pay for shipping. One of the rules was that they would not pay individuals shipping, so the packing party was born! Moms get together and pack boxes and Pepsi pays the postage. Does that help? If you have questions, just ask me!! Pat

Oh, and I'd be happy to write him and pass it along to the moms from my PIR group. We adopted quite a few people during bootcamp(:
