Hello everyone and welcome to the Navy!!! This Group was started for the loved one of DEPpers leaving in the month of August (although everyone is welcome).......What year you say? Well ......any year!

We are an extension of the group DEPpers/Future Sailors....in, but not gone yet- see the link above.

If you haven't been there, go there now....There is a ton of information that you will need and are probably dying for....like what to send with them to Boot Camp and BC videos! :)

So if you have general information and comments that will be helpful and/or encouraging for ALL new DEP/Future Sailor Moms, then leave it in that main DEPper/Future Sailors Group, but if you have August ship out issues/questions etc., need specific information, (or have some to share) or just want to talk to someone that is where you are, with a Recruit leaving for and arriving in BC in August, ...then this is the place to be. :-)

Remember, don't "miss 'em while you're with them!" :) Make the most of every precious moment together before they leave. This will be a big transition for both of you! We'll be here for you every step of the way...
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Things to do in the last month before your future sailor leaves (Click on the link.)

Once your recruit has arrived at RTC, the next stop here is to join the group Boot Camp for Moms (and loved ones)  Hangout and ask questions in this group until your form letter arrives.

***New news just out today (9/25/19) from the US Navy Recruit Training Command FaceBook page:
Attention families and friends of RTC: Previously, upon arrival to boot camp, recruits would box up their civilian belongings and ship it to their choice of destination. Our new procedure now has those boxes being stored locally and will be returned to the recruits the day before graduation. The new procedure went into effect this week beginning with Div. 409 in Training Group 52.

Approx two to three weeks after your recruit arrives you will receive the "Form Letter". The form letter will include their Ship# , DIV #, their mailing address, PIR date, and the Security Access Form. The Security Access form needs to be completed and sent back to your recruit ASAP. Keep this letter in a safe place, it has the information you will need.

The date that is on the form letter is the official date for your Recruit's Training Groups PIR (graduation), Things can always change for an individual Recruit (due to illness, injury, failure to pass a final test etc.)! So, we always recommend that you plan, if possible, to purchase Refundable or Exchangeable plane tickets.

After you have received the form letter, join the group for your recruits PIR. There you can ask questions about PIR, training, hotels etc. Those groups will be posted in the Boot Camp for Mom's group.

Thanks for joining us. We hope you will realize you are not alone, and will soon make new friends, plus feel supported and encouraged! :)

**It is very important that your future Sailor be physically fit prior to shipping to the RTC (these are new standards beginning 1/1/2018) and that he be able to pass an initial run test. See Navy Sets New Physical Fitness Standard to Start Boot Camp. "The initial run standard is evaluated on the 1.5 mile run of the first Physical Fitness Assessment (PFA) at boot camp. The initial run standard for male recruits will be 16 minutes 10 seconds and 18 minutes seven seconds for female recruits."

OhioNavyMama, we're here for each other; glad you know already her ship and division! I'm still waiting and my son left on the 9th. I didn't know facebook was an option, unless my son told the recruiter not to do that (who knows...)

HI!! My only child...daughter...arrived at boot camp on August 11th. We left the Columbus, Ohio MEPS and we were actually allowed to go to the airport with them and watch them leave from there. So that was nice that we got to see her onto her flight. She txtd us when she landed and called from the bus on the way, so we got to talk to her almost her entire trip there. She also called me from her cell phone when she arrived at boot camp...I was shocked to see her cell number on my caller id. It was about 730pm eastern time. I asked her how she was doing so far and she sounded really irritated and said "it sucks". No tears which was good...I would've lost it. She was able to talk for about 2 min. It seems it really just depends on who the instructors are, as to how the phone calls happen. I was lucky but I really feel for those of you who haven't gotten the call yet. I've been waking up at 730am (their time) the past couple mornings, feeling sick and wondering about her. Have only cried a few times, but the cries last a couple hrs. Its really hard to lose your only child and know that they are under so much stress and emotional turmoil...although I realize thats part of basic training and it gets easier as time goes by. Well I hope a few of us have kids together, it would be nice to compare letters/stories and look forward to PIR together. She is Ship 10 Div 332....her recruiter posted her address the day after she got there on her facebook page. Anyone have kids in same ship/div? ~Tiffany~

Thanks for the info Angie!

Just talked to the recruiter, he won't have the address until monday or tuesday. My husband finds it amusing that we are all so anxious ("It's only been 4 days!") but he doesn't get it.
Checked the mail and the only good thing in that was the latest O magazine.
Oh well. Patience, I keep telling myself.

Busy day running around with the daughter; doctors appointment, shopping..
just getting caught up reading.

Angie, my house is still recovering from our Patrick party two weeks ago; still things to put away, but that'll all keep, N4Ms is much more important! :-)

I think Patrick's going in as E3, but not sure.

Kimbob, glad the box came today for you!

Yeah kimbob!!! julie I bet you are ship 13 too!!

I think that's what Tiffie said, E4, they go in as E3 right? she's one up from what she normally would have been, had she not gotten recruits.

The mailman is out there.... it usually takes him over an hour (our mailboxes are in a cluster, like apartments are) I want to run over there and say "Can I help You??"

Getting ready to take son to Walmart for snacks for his lock-in at his church tonight (you know Energy Drinks, gum, candy!!)

Where's PK???

YYYYEEEEAAAHHH!! I think ship 13 is going to be a good luck ship afterall!!! However, I don't know the difference between ship and division! LOL What does classed up mean? When Tiffany was at MEPS her recruiter finally sent over her paper work for her to go to E4, because she recruited a NUKE and 3 other kids into the Navy, but won't get that pay until after bc.

PKMOM>>>>GET YOUR MAIL SO WE KNOW!!!!
