This group is for N4M members that have a loved one leaving for bootcamp in August...I will leave the year open so that even future Deppers leaving in the month of August of any year can join...Lets share stories, information, concerns, and questions

Hello everyone and welcome to the Navy!!! This Group was started for the loved one of DEPpers leaving in the month of August (although everyone is welcome).......What year you say? Well ......any year!

We are an extension of the group DEPpers/Future Sailors....in, but not gone yet- see the link above.

If you haven't been there, go there now....There is a ton of information that you will need and are probably dying for....like what to send with them to Boot Camp and BC videos! :)

So if you have general information and comments that will be helpful and/or encouraging for ALL new DEP/Future Sailor Moms, then leave it in that main DEPper/Future Sailors Group, but if you have August ship out issues/questions etc., need specific information, (or have some to share) or just want to talk to someone that is where you are, with a Recruit leaving for and arriving in BC in August, ...then this is the place to be. :-)

Remember, don't "miss 'em while you're with them!" :) Make the most of every precious moment together before they leave. This will be a big transition for both of you! We'll be here for you every step of the way...
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Things to do in the last month before your future sailor leaves (Click on the link.)

Once your recruit has arrived at RTC, the next stop here is to join the group Boot Camp for Moms (and loved ones)  Hangout and ask questions in this group until your form letter arrives.

***New news just out today (9/25/19) from the US Navy Recruit Training Command FaceBook page:
Attention families and friends of RTC: Previously, upon arrival to boot camp, recruits would box up their civilian belongings and ship it to their choice of destination. Our new procedure now has those boxes being stored locally and will be returned to the recruits the day before graduation. The new procedure went into effect this week beginning with Div. 409 in Training Group 52.

Approx two to three weeks after your recruit arrives you will receive the "Form Letter". The form letter will include their Ship# , DIV #, their mailing address, PIR date, and the Security Access Form. The Security Access form needs to be completed and sent back to your recruit ASAP. Keep this letter in a safe place, it has the information you will need.

The date that is on the form letter is the official date for your Recruit's Training Groups PIR (graduation), Things can always change for an individual Recruit (due to illness, injury, failure to pass a final test etc.)! So, we always recommend that you plan, if possible, to purchase Refundable or Exchangeable plane tickets.

After you have received the form letter, join the group for your recruits PIR. There you can ask questions about PIR, training, hotels etc. Those groups will be posted in the Boot Camp for Mom's group.

Thanks for joining us. We hope you will realize you are not alone, and will soon make new friends, plus feel supported and encouraged! :)

**It is very important that your future Sailor be physically fit prior to shipping to the RTC (these are new standards beginning 1/1/2018) and that he be able to pass an initial run test. See Navy Sets New Physical Fitness Standard to Start Boot Camp. "The initial run standard is evaluated on the 1.5 mile run of the first Physical Fitness Assessment (PFA) at boot camp. The initial run standard for male recruits will be 16 minutes 10 seconds and 18 minutes seven seconds for female recruits."

Hi everyone! there were a lot of people up late last night and up early this morning. lol i have fridays off (for now) so i tend to sleep in.

I"m not sure why i haven't mentioned it before but my husband is from WA state. he grew up in LaCenter and now his folks live in Castle Rock. We too lived in LaCenter for a couple of years in between Navy and Army. then when my hubby got sent to Korea for a year, the kids and I moved with his folks in Castle Rock. At the time we were hoping to get stationed at Ft Lewis when he got back, but the Army had other plans for us, and we've been at Ft. Hood ever since (9 years now). And we are bad, we havent' been back to WA once since we moved here. I go home to Maine almost every year. My hubby comes from a huge family 12 kids, which also means 12 spouses and a ton of kids. But sadly i just dont' like most of his family. they start drama and i can't stand it. so that's why i dont' go back. I do feel bad though, i love my mother and father in law. they are wonderful people. So i've been giving thought to a trip out there. it wont' be until next summer though. so if i make it, i'd love to meet up with some of you :)

When do the kids get to start writing letters? This Sunday? Will they get to go to church this first Sunday?

*tapping foot* where are you Mr. Mailman??

Hey everyone!!! I hope today is our MAIL day and everyone elses BOX day!!!

Becky all guys get a shave on Friday 13th? When I was watching the videos of the graduations, it was sad to see they all still had to wear the BC glasses. When do they get theirs back? I was glad to see that Tiffany's weren't in her box!

I was looking at the letters I wrote Tiffany and realized I can't even read my own handwriting, so I'm TYPING all of them, I just finished day one, it's amazing, I thought I wouldn't have anything to say and more and more comes to you as you rewrite!!

Morning, all, geez, some of you were up late last nite!!!
Angie, I'm a speech therapist so I have K through grade 5; love working with the little kids, they keep me young!
Hoping to get the call from the recruiter (he said he'd call me, but if I don't hear by this afternoon I'm calling him!) for the address. Maybe the form letter will come soon?
Spending some time with my 19 year old daughter today before she heads off to college and I become an EMPTY NESTER! I expect more tears at the end of this month... but then it'll be that much closer to PIR. She wants to come along to PIR even if she misses a few days of her classes.

Have a good morning everyone!

Awesome, love the name by the way! :) Hang in there You Can do it! Mine left on 8-2. In a few days you'll get the "Kid in a Box" & a few days or so after that you'll receive the form letter. Remember we are ALL here for you & have been in your shoes or are now in your shoes. Keep checking in & asking questions. It is ok to cry, & Angie will tell you a good cry in the shower can help too. My tears never seemed to come in the shower. Always some place more inconvient. But hang on, it will get better.

My son shipped on 8/11 , we were at MEPs with him, untill he was transported to the airport.Amazingly, I did really well, untill they called "ALL SHIPPING TO GL, INOT THE BRIEFING ROOM" At this statement, and watching him walk into the rpoom, I fell apart... This was real !
As he exited the rooom and gathered his things, I was holding back the tears, as not to upset him. BUT... when he wrapped those big arms around me and said "SEE YA", I just went to mush . My husband too, ( the Marine) really suprosed me, as he had tears in his eyes as well.
We got several calls from the airport, and our final "CALL" @ 2235. He sounded GREAT ! Hw was so stoked and we could hear the strength and pride in his voice. ( this made it a bit easier for me)
I did phenominally well at work all day too, however, once I drove into the driveway and got home, just went into tears again.
