My son leaves 7/27. I think he's starting to feel like I have been the last 8 months while he's been in DEP- scared and dreading it.  These next 11 days or so will fly by, and I am trying like hell to slow them down a bit.  We had our last big family vacation last week- and have his going away party planned for this Saturday the 18th.  Good distractions, but not good enough for me.  I have been in a fog, in a haze.  Can't control the tears that sneak up over the most trivial things.  I am simply going to miss him so bad my heart is torn. I am so proud of him, but feel like I am not quite finished with him.  His younger brother leaves for Boot camp in September, so I'll be right back here again then.
It's reassuring to know that other moms can relate.  My son saw me on our deck last night with sunglasses on....he knew I was trying to hide some tears that slipped out.  He sat down next to me and told me that he wouldn't go out with his girlfriend, he would stay home with me.  He had a few tears also!  I told him NO- you go.  Just make a little time for Mamma over the next week or so.  Hopefully the friends and girlfriend can hang at our house so I can at least SEE his face as much as possible.

Hello All,

My son leaves MEPS today from San Antonio, we said our goodbye at the recruiter's office yesterday, he did not want us to go to MEPS said it would be too hard on all of us. His dad              and I were a mess yesterday. Prayers for all our kids leaving this week.

My son left yesterday and I was not able to be at MEPS today, but had an amazing navy mom taking photos for me! My son is sitting in chicago waiting for the rest of the recruits he will spend the next 9 weeks with.... sad and proud mom sitting at home waiting for my phone call to say he made it to boot camp!

Am very anxious to find out his division information- we already have a stack of mail at home waiting for an address.
