Hello everyone and welcome to the Navy!!! This Group was started for the loved one of DEPPERS leaving in the month of March (although everyone is welcome).......What year you say? Well ......any year!

If you have March ship out issues/questions etc., need specific information, (or have some to share) or just want to talk to someone that is where you are, with a Recruit leaving for and arriving in BC in March, ...then this is the place to be. :-)

Remember, don't "miss 'em while you're with them!" :) Make the most of every precious moment together before they leave. This will be a big transition for both of you! We'll be here for you every step of the way...
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Things to do in the last month before your future sailor leaves (Click on the link.)

Once your recruit has arrived at RTC, the next stop here is to join the group Boot Camp for Moms (and loved ones)  Hangout and ask questions in this group until your form letter arrives.

***New news just out today (9/25/19) from the US Navy Recruit Training Command FaceBook page:
Attention families and friends of RTC: Previously, upon arrival to boot camp, recruits would box up their civilian belongings and ship it to their choice of destination. Our new procedure now has those boxes being stored locally and will be returned to the recruits the day before graduation. The new procedure went into effect this week beginning with Div. 409 in Training Group 52.

Approx two to three weeks after your recruit arrives you will receive the "Form Letter". The form letter will include their Ship# , DIV #, their mailing address, PIR date, and the Security Access Form. The Security Access form needs to be completed and sent back to your recruit ASAP. Keep this letter in a safe place, it has the information you will need.

The date that is on the form letter is the official date for your Recruit's Training Groups PIR (graduation), Things can always change for an individual Recruit (due to illness, injury, failure to pass a final test etc.)! So, we always recommend that you plan, if possible, to purchase Refundable or Exchangeable plane tickets.

After you have received the form letter, join the group for your recruits PIR. There you can ask questions about PIR, training, hotels etc. Those groups will be posted in the Boot Camp for Mom's group.

Thanks for joining us. We hope you will realize you are not alone, and will soon make new friends, plus feel supported and encouraged! :)

**It is very important that your future Sailor be physically fit prior to shipping to the RTC (these are new standards beginning 1/1/2018) and that he be able to pass an initial run test. See Navy Fitness Standards"The initial run standard is evaluated on the 1.5 mile run of the first Physical Fitness Assessment (PFA) at boot camp. The initial run standard for male recruits will be 16 minutes 10 seconds and 18 minutes 37 seconds for female recruits."

Good Luck to all the DEPper's this week and their WOW MOM's!

Quick question regarding his bank information: Should he bring a deposit slip with him or just bank name, address, account number.  Can it be any bank or one that the NAVY uses?  I am still unclear on this.  Thanks so much.

Cmom good luck tomorrow..don't forget the Big Girl Panties.  We will be here when you get back from Indy...give your son my well wishes!
Comment by CMom on February 28, 2011 at 9:47am

Wow - I cant believe its here!!  Tomorrow we take our son to Indy he will check in to the hotel - then we go out to eat with friends and family then early to bed for him! Then Wednesday we will watch him get sworn in  and then off to the airport!  I am just hoping I can keep it together!  I find myself getting very aggravated with my son and hope I don't say anything to make it worse for us!!  Wish me luck!!

ITSN 2BE do you know yet what time your flight leaves? Will it be a non stop? Do you have any idea when you will arrive in Chicago?  Are you taking your phone?  I will try to text you or call before you can't use it!!  You will be in my thoughts and prayers!!  Write SOON!!

Don't know how much I will be on here the next couple of days (although I did get a new phone - iphone to be exact - and if I can figure out how to use it I will try to post as things go forward!)  I will be on here once I get back from Indy as I know I will need you all more than ever!! Thanks to all that have helped me get this far!!  To all you others that have loved ones leaving tomorrow or Wednesday I cant wait to hear about your experiences as well!!  Good luck and God bless!!

ITSN_2BE ...It will be an honor to write you in Boot Camp!   I for one will look forward to hearing about your time there.  You have a gift for words...and somehow I don't think you'll leave a small footprint at Great Lakes.  The Navy is lucky to have gotten you!        Fair Winds and Following Seas to you!!

My son leaves Wednesday morning.   I had CMom put him on the calendar for the 2nd but I guess technically he doesn't get to GL until March 3rd.  I am still hoping that he'll PIR with ITSN2B so keep your fingers crossed!!    This weekend was SO difficult.  I can't even put into words.  I keep telling myself to be strong for him because it will make it that much harder for him if I'm not.    I did a lot better than I thought I would....now if I can just hold it together a little while longer and get him on his way.

One more week til my daughter leaves, we had her Going Away party today. It was really nice, but I can't stop crying.  ughhhhhhhh I am trying to be strong for her, but I am a complete mess.  :(

Aww don't cry. If anything laugh until your sides hurt and you pee yourself!! Hahahahaha! I will do just fine. Just think of it as a little vacation... Imagine me on a beach in the carribean drinking weird alcoholic beverages and getting my tan on lol... Yeah then write me and tell me how lucky I am to have such a wonder vaca! Lol
