Hello everyone and welcome to the Navy!!! This Group was started for the loved one of DEPPERS leaving in the month of March (although everyone is welcome).......What year you say? Well ......any year!

If you have March ship out issues/questions etc., need specific information, (or have some to share) or just want to talk to someone that is where you are, with a Recruit leaving for and arriving in BC in March, ...then this is the place to be. :-)

Remember, don't "miss 'em while you're with them!" :) Make the most of every precious moment together before they leave. This will be a big transition for both of you! We'll be here for you every step of the way...
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Things to do in the last month before your future sailor leaves (Click on the link.)

Once your recruit has arrived at RTC, the next stop here is to join the group Boot Camp for Moms (and loved ones)  Hangout and ask questions in this group until your form letter arrives.

***New news just out today (9/25/19) from the US Navy Recruit Training Command FaceBook page:
Attention families and friends of RTC: Previously, upon arrival to boot camp, recruits would box up their civilian belongings and ship it to their choice of destination. Our new procedure now has those boxes being stored locally and will be returned to the recruits the day before graduation. The new procedure went into effect this week beginning with Div. 409 in Training Group 52.

Approx two to three weeks after your recruit arrives you will receive the "Form Letter". The form letter will include their Ship# , DIV #, their mailing address, PIR date, and the Security Access Form. The Security Access form needs to be completed and sent back to your recruit ASAP. Keep this letter in a safe place, it has the information you will need.

The date that is on the form letter is the official date for your Recruit's Training Groups PIR (graduation), Things can always change for an individual Recruit (due to illness, injury, failure to pass a final test etc.)! So, we always recommend that you plan, if possible, to purchase Refundable or Exchangeable plane tickets.

After you have received the form letter, join the group for your recruits PIR. There you can ask questions about PIR, training, hotels etc. Those groups will be posted in the Boot Camp for Mom's group.

Thanks for joining us. We hope you will realize you are not alone, and will soon make new friends, plus feel supported and encouraged! :)

**It is very important that your future Sailor be physically fit prior to shipping to the RTC (these are new standards beginning 1/1/2018) and that he be able to pass an initial run test. See Navy Fitness Standards"The initial run standard is evaluated on the 1.5 mile run of the first Physical Fitness Assessment (PFA) at boot camp. The initial run standard for male recruits will be 16 minutes 10 seconds and 18 minutes 37 seconds for female recruits."

Hello to all the moms! It's been a while since I posted here. I feel bad about it, but I have been spending as much time as I can with my son. His brothers have also been setting aside their usual "outings" just to be here, hang out, play some basketball and talk. I had a nice talk with my son today on the way home from grocery shopping and I asked him how he's feeling now that we're getting close. I asked him if he has any regrets about the decision he made. He said a couple of times in the past month he's questioned his decision but, he thinks it's because he's getting nervous now. He's never been away from us for more than a week and he's going to miss us. I wanted to cry but, instead, sucked it up and told him how porud we were of him and that I knew in my heart he was going to do great! His gf has been coming over a minimum of once a week and luckily we've been able to have time alone to talk while he's playing games or whatever with his brothers. She's been wonderful and although I'm trying to be here for her, she's been helping me a lot too. His going away party is the 5th and I've already forwarned him that it'll be hard to hold back the tears that day. My hubby is planning on having an open mic for anyone who wants to say something to him...I know his friends, I know my family...I KNOW I'll be crying! Well, I hope all the mother's the very best and I am certain I'll be spending much more time on here once he leaves. I know I will need the support! I've been holding it all in...

ITSN 2BE - Am I correct in thinking that you all will be in the blue uniform not the white for PIR??  I kind of like the white ones but doubt they will listen to me!!  (Unless I promised NOT to sell the big girl panties outside the gate that day!) he he he!!  I looked on you tube for any May PIR's and I saw both but figure the first part of may will likely be blue ones?!  What do you think?

Glad everyone likes my big girl panties!! LOL  I have to find humor in all this or I will go CRAZY!!  Glad I could make some of you smile - even if it is short lived!! Now when I start to tear up - I just think about all of you in your big girl panties and giggle to myself!!!  (you too ITSN 2BE! I can just see you on the first day wearing polk-a-doted red whit and blue bg panties and the RDC looking at you funny!!) hey - whatever it takes!!  Maybe you should picture the RDC in their BG PANTIES when they are yelling at you!!!  Just don't smile!!

is it march yet - I'm with the rest of the gals - I will keep you in my prayers!!

Reading these comments is making me so sad for all of you :(   My son doesn't leave until 03/28 so I'll be reading all of your comments, frustrations, rantings, etc. until then and then it will be my turn to be going through all of it.  You are all so much stronger than any of you realize.  Even though I haven't been on here long you have answered questions and helped in ways you'll never know.

P.S. Sorry I got in on the tail end of the Big Girl Panties...thought you all might enjoy this link.  You definitely wouldn't be missed!!!!!

Is it March, what was gf reaction to her mother statement?  I would be more worried about how she feels about it.  Like this is not difficult without any other issues now to throw all the drama in.

Cmom...I love the Big Girl Panties...it is our March theme!  It is so true remember when there was only a couple of us and not much activity. Time has gone much faster then I anticipated. Of course I feel bad for  my son because I just started to fill up when I read Itsn post about nothing from her after Monday, I can't imagine how I am going to be in three more weeks.  He started cleaning out his clothes yesterday, sad for me....Happy for him.
