OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Please note! Changes to this guide happened in October 2017. There are now tickets issued, and there are no longer parking passes for PIR.

Please see changes to attending PIR in the PAGES column. The PAGES are located under the member icons on the right side.

WaterLily - tell your son not to laugh too hard if Pensacola shuts down due to a "dusting" of snow. If they get an inch life stops! I love making fun of my family when they tell me how cold it is at 30 degrees and a hard freeze :) I do miss the beach and Gulf though!

Yes, layers for sure!  I'm a huge fan of tech fabrics, SmartWool socks & down puffer coats - warmth without the bulk.  It's been a weird stretch for much of the country.  My sailor is in Pensacola and they're struggling to get warmer than 60 today, with highs next week only forecast in the mid-50's!  I would love those temps here in MI, but I'm sure that feels so cold in FL right now.

B'sNukeMoM - just remember to wear layers! If possible get wicking top and bottom. I have been in MI for over 25 years and am still NOT acclimated. Layers are definitely my friend!

SubMom - plenty warm here in SoCal!  Heading to NE next week to visit younger son and it's going to be really cold!!!! Looking forward to seeing him but not looking forward to the cold lol!

Happy Friday Everyone! Hope you are all staying warm :)

I do have to admit the plus side is that it's not dark when I drive IN to work!

Comment by WaterLily on November 6, 2019 at 2:01pm

Yes!  It stinks.  The darkness beginning before 6pm wipes us all out!

SubMom - I feel you!  It's just so hard to get home from work and it's dark - feels like I should be getting ready for bed rather than making dinner lol.  Definitely an adjustment and I don't like it lol!

I was washing dishes about 2 hours ago and could t believe it was only 6:30! I have a really hard time with it being pitch black at dinner time.
