OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Please note! Changes to this guide happened in October 2017. Tickets are now issued for all guests, and all guests must have a ticket to enter base. A separate parking pass is no longer needed to drive on to base for parking.

Please see changes to attending PIR in the PAGES column. The PAGES are located under the member icons on the right side.

My mom got B & C a snow blower for Christmas lol!  They were so excited - it was ready for pickup yesterday and today they texted me a picture of it after they put together.  Never thought I'd hear my SoCal son talking about a snow blower and being excited about it!

law1999 - the holiday's shouldn't cause any delay in his graduation.

Comment by law1999 on December 4, 2019 at 9:53am

Thank you for the welcome.  With him being there over thanksgiving and Christmas will that delay him a week or two for his graduation date?

law1999, it’s so nice to have you here!   The initial waiting for that form letter is the worst, but being here on the N4M site was a huge help for me.  My son’s PIR was Sept 6 2019 so it’s all still very fresh in my mind. Hugs to you.

Welcome law1999! It took about 2-3 weeks for us to get a letter.
As MarianneKT’s Mom said writing letters daily or one continuous letter was good therapy for me and it kept our sailor up to date in what was happening back home. NMH

Welcome law1999 - keep in mind it takes about 9-14 business days to receive the official letter.  Counting 9 Fridays you could be looking at a 1/17/20 PIR but it could be a week either way.  Hang in there!

Welcome law1999. Boot camp was back in 2008 for me, and I cant remember how long  it was before I received her 1st letter. She was gone over Thanksgiving too. It helped me to write letters ornotes each day until I received her address. Hope you hear from him soon.

Hi I am new to this group.  My son left for bootcamp November 19.  Still have not got his form letter and missing him terribly.

I hope everyone has a safe and happy Thanksgiving!
