Kathy B - when is the Art Fair in Ann Arbor? We get over that way about once a month from the Battle Creek area. We like to shop at Whole Foods Market and we enjoy the art fair when we can get to it.

Jaz04 - No reason to laugh. Katie joined in 10/8/08 and I can remember waiting for that first letter. I wrote her just about every day when she was gone and couldn't wait for her letter each week. PIR was wonderful - and so was just hugging her, seeing her and talking with her.

Being new to the Navy, I just have to tell you all what a relief it was to finally hear from my son after 3 weeks of bc. Remember those days? I know you may laugh, it's ok. I didn't know it would be so hard on me not to hear from him that long.

I've never been to the Art Fair. Not even sure when it is. I'm going to Japan in July to see my daughter. Thomas and I are going on a 3-day Gator cruise on her ship.

Joe is working at GETRAG on Mound Rd for a summer internship.

Kathy B - I can imagine you would be preoccupied - that really is something to have to deal with. Prayers are with you as you help all those involved.

My son is doing a summer internship in Sterling Heights. It is quite a drive from our home, so it is good that he is able to carpool from AnnArbor/Ypsi.

Kathy B - How are you doing? I can understand what you are going thru. I have a similar situation with my daughter who went to work at a camp in Blind River Ontario for the summer - limited internet - roaming charges break the bank, so who knows how much I'll hear from her. I'm sure you will get thru - you certainly will treasure the calls and contacts even more than usual when you hear from her. I'm sure she is thrilled to be invovled with her first detachment.

Katie and her ship soon begin their ship's INSURV, then the Gator Cruise will follow shortly after that. Our son Thomas (13) and I will be heading to Japan for that. I've never been in any other country besides Ontario, Canada.

Congrates Adele. That is wonderful!
Sorry i haven't been on lately I've been planning my In-laws 50th wedding anniversary party. It has been fun.
We are all still on for the Michigan meet and greet. I can't wait. Let everyone in your circle know. I'm also contacting the vfw's in the area, they are up on the local boys that are serving some of their mom's don't know about us. Can y'all do the same and invite them or hang fliers. Hope we have a good turn out.
Hope all is well with everyone. sounds like y'all are doing great.
Hi Kathy, Ruth and CathieRenee.

Connie, the same thing happend in Colorado with my daughter, son-in-law and granddaughters with the Air Force. They had to find a storage unit until the AF was able to get their house ready for them to move in. It really is awful that they have to deal with that stuff and it seems like no one wants to help. Doesn't the Navy have an 'apartment' on base for them to temporarily stay in until Monday? My son was stationed at Oceana Air Station in Virginia Beach, VA for the last 2 1/2 years. It is VERY expensive to live in VA. So sorry to hear of such an awful situation. Wish I could help, but I will pray for them.
