Adele and Ruth... I am jealous that you got to have your sons home for Christmas. I bet that was wonderful! Hopefully Troy will be back in the states in the spring, I hope he brings home some warm weather.
Ruth... how does one "ship a car"?
Adele, glad to hear Casey is doing much better.

Adele, I am still here, have been very busy with work and the holidays. My daughter was home for Christmas but has gone back to school now. Troy is still overseas and did not get to come home. My mom and I sent Christmas stockings and cards to each sailor in his squadron on deployment. That was a lot of work, but so much fun to do. I hope Andrew gets his choice of orders. How is Casey doing?

Katie happened to be home for Easter before leaving for A school, so she got to see all the family in the area shortly before leaving. So, she wanted it quiet and to be just at home the last days of her time here before shipping out to Japan for 3 years. But, everyone is different.

I see on the national news that the USS Carl Vinson has probably arrived for disaster relief in Haiti by now. There are sending in quite a few sailors and marines by the reports.

Tina - I'm from Ypsilanti. My daughter Katie is a DC on the USS Essex.

My daughter left yesterday for boot camp. We live near the Ann Arbor area. A proud military mom now. I'm also a veteran myself and my husband just retired 2 years ago after 23 years and we made the decision to move back to my home to be close again to family

My daughter has been in Sasebo, Japan, since Aprili 2009-she's a DC. We're here in Ypsilanti, but I grew up in Lansing.

My daughter Alicia returned to Sault Ste Marie today after church. For the 5 hour trip she said the roads were fine except for the wind advisory in Northern MI and the UP. They were excorting about 20 vehicles at a time over the Mackinac Bridge - cars in the inside lane over the grate (she usually avoids that) and going max of 25 mph--she arrived safely back to her place.

We got about 5" Thursday and they weren't kidding when they said they were going to send out the road crews sparingly. I chose the slowest route to school yesterday and we crawled part of the way....never accelerating on a long stretch of road. Thomas was late to school and I was late to work, but arrived safely. Doubt they'll plow our subdivision at all.

Thanks for the updates Ruth VH, we will continue to keep everyone in our prayers.
