Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Woo hoo! 16 hours or so until my son's flight lands at Metro. And then he's home for two weeks. He wanted a white Christmas, and that wish he'll get.
So fun to hear of the sailors making it home, especially those from the warmer locations. Brrrr. LOL

Quick question Ruth, what size gen do you have? I would like to get one soon and have it do the same for us. or at least run the furnace. My Dad lives with us and he doesn't do so well with the little back up wood stove we have.
Talked to my Sailor last night, he is sooo ready to come home for a bit. Wonder how long it will be befor he is ready to go back? come on Sunday!

Congratulations btmom to your Sailor! Might just be getting a nice generator this year as it would be a bummer to lose power for to long and our pipes break. Wood stove is just for fun not heat as it is in one end of the house . Glad everyones power is back on. Let's hope that all travels are nice and easy for those who are coming home for Leave, here and back. Now were did i put my fuzzy sox?

Sounds like most were hit by the storm. We got around feet on Sat. night. Lost power 6:30 am Sun. and was restored about 11:30 pm on Monday. Luckily we have our furnaced hooked to the generator also. Road didn't get plowed until around 6 pm Monday. Had to cut trees out of the road both Sunday and Monday to get out. All the Christmas lights fell victim to the heavy wet snow with the exception of the big blue star, it is still shining brightly. Talked with my cub yesterday he puts on his E-3 stripes tomorrow.

Wow, Michimom... 48 hours would be a challenge. You are very lucky to have a generator! Yes to the gas stove, that has been my preference ~ I guess, forever! lol

My son is flying in just around midnight Friday (well, Saturday a.m.).
We finally have power after 48 hours without! So glad we have a generator so we could stay warm, but I really would like it better if we had a gas stove! Will be nice to be able to make dinner tonight (did I say that? LOL).

Dunesmom, my sailor likes food that I can get in quantity from Amazon. I can have it shipped right to him for free! I feel like Amazon is reliable as I have never had a problem with hacking or viruses.

Wow, i think we were about the only ones that did not get hit by the snow. It went all around us. the next school over was shut down but to clear here, so i plugged off to work. Got to feed them kids ya know. Hope you all have power. Yep the worse thing about losing it IS the no heat. everything else would be fine. can melt snow for the pots and just put the cooler outside the door. Hmm Amazon.com and free shipping. Will have to look into that one Lorraine. Save travels for all!

No blah winter storm for us. Got about 6 inches or so of snow, plus lots of wind and blowing snow, AND we lost power yesterday afternoon and still have no power. So happy we rigged our generator to our furnace (I'm sure it's not to code, but, hey, we're warm) and now, I can't believe I'm saying this, but I'm happy to be here at work on a Monday morning (even with the nasty commute). Yes, looks like my son will see some snow this weekend when he gets home. Hope we have power by the time I get home from work.

Sounds like a wide range of weather throughout Michigan. I like to shop online and I prefer Amazon.com. They seem to have everything. I am a Prime member which means I pay an annual fee, but I get it back many times over with free shipping. I didn't even go to the store for a Best Buy gift card - they offer free shipping at their website, too.
