Hi MI moms! I am new to the Navy & new to this site & new to this group! Any moms from Northern Michigan? My son is a senior in high school and is in the DEP program - he is waiting to hear if he will be awarded the NROTC scholarship as well. This is a new world for me and my family!

Congratulations to Diego and Kelsey.  May their marriage be blessed.  Sounds like you will definitely be having a wonderful Christmas together with your family;)

It is great having Diego home for a bit. He and Kelsey will be married on Wednesday, it has been so busy planning all of it over the past seven weeks and it is finally here. I have to bake and make the wedding cake tomorrow, the cupcakes have to be done as well. I spent last week making all the chocolates. Hall decorating, last minute details and then we are set for the big day. Then we can look forward to Christmas, haven't done any shopping so we will be doing it on Christmas Eve before Church service. Not much this year due to the wedding, which is a blessed gift in itself. Wishing you all wonderful times with your Sailors and families!!

A friend sent me this about college students coming home on break, but it applies to sailors as well;)

btmom - I'm originally from Lansing, but we live in Superior Twp, outside of Ypsilanti.

Dunesmom - Glad your sailor is home safe and sound.  Enjoy!

10 days before Katie arrives;)

Sounds like Scott's car will be fixed in time for his run home over New Year's weekend. He has a 5-day and is looking forward to it. Great to hear all the plans everyone has for connecting with their sailor over the holidays. AED's Mom - I hope you get to talk to your daughter. She probably needs a boost while celebrating Christmas in Boot Camp.

Ruth VH - so happy your son is home! I know you have a lot of catching up to do.

Marianne, I know Brandon said the Essex was in port I think this week.  He deals with the ships if people need to be medavaced off them for tests etc.  Where are you from???

Welcome AED's Mom - Have you been writing those letters?  Does she know if she will be 'adopted' on Christmas?  I know they did this on Thanksgiving when my daughter was there.  I'm sure San Diego weather will be better than staying in GL like my daughter did for DC school.

Sorry PIR date is 1/7/11.
