Rose, happy to hear that your husband returned home safely.  We made it to church and back.  The snow continues hear.  Big, wet flakes.  We shoveled, but will have to do it again.  Now it is often to the Christmas Service/Program for my youngest son. Pray all will arrive and return home safely.

Katie is taking the 2nd leave period offered on her ship, so she will be home December 30-January 10.  She will celebrated Christmas and her 21st birthday with her USS Essex friends.

That fluffy white stuff is just coming on down here. It is so very pretty--if I didn't have to drive in it or shovel it, I think I would love it.

Unless we get a really warm spell this week, looks like my son will see the white stuff when he gets home Saturday.

The road warrior returned home late last night safe & sound.  Both of us are glad that he went to see the The Big Chill game with our mid, and glad for his safe return journey.  Snow started tumbling down about halfway through, so it was 40 mph the rest of the way (about three hours).  We now have about a foot + of snow in the front yard AND it's all over the roadways.  Still coming down steadily and the winds are gusty so this will definitely keep the road crews busy!

rain, sleet, than rain.  warm enough to not get the fluffy stuff my Sailor is so looking forward to.  But i will take the safe trip for all of our Sailors over some snowshoeing.  Yes the count down!!! I can hardly wait for one week from today!  Ok loved ones of our Sailors, keep it together, don't start crying yet.  Ok that is what i do, i start to think about it and then here they come just a running down my face.  Makes it hard on the old skin ya know.  Enjoy your day and your planning for the homecomings!

Hopefully your husband will return home safely.  My daughter is suppose to get 8-12" in Sault Ste Marei with this storm.  I rec'd a call from my in-laws in Minnesota about having a good old storm earlier today and I see they were diverting international flights from Minneapolis to Detroit.

My husband is on his way back up north after attending The Big Chill hockey game in Ann Arbor today.  Blizzard warnings and winter storm warnings apparently aren't meant for him!  At least I got him to say that if things got really bad, that he'd stop somewhere for the night.  Guess I'll do some chores and say some prayers til he appears.  So much for our clear roads!

Comment by MarianneKT's Mom on December 11, 2010 at 7:58pm

Our winter warning begins after 3 am for 4-7 inches snow, sleet and then strong winds.  Go figure - tomorrow at 2 pm is suppose to be my son's Christmas Service for his school.  Of course, it wouldn't be the first time it has been postponed or cancelled in the 19 years my kids have been at the school.

The big snow has missed us, too.  Just a bit less than an inch so far.  I do hope we get enough to make it a pretty white Christmas for our sailor.

Now that sounds just perfect Rose.  Nice for looking at and snowshoeing but good for driving around to look at the lights.  I think all the snow we were supose to get here went north, or south, or east, lol...

Comment by Rose on December 11, 2010 at 2:13pm

We have six to nine inches of snow in our front yard, with clear roads (for now).  More snow to come later tonight.
