Dunesmom - Mobile AL is close to Pensacola (50 miles). See if you can get a better price out of Mobile than Pensacola. I use bing.com to search flights. Holidays are the highest price time of year to fly. Just flew my sailor home from NY and it was twice what I expected.

Our son will be coming home by the way of his dad and fiance. They will be driving down to S. C. to pick him up due to the high costs of airfare. He and his fiance will be driving back down together and getting the paperwork filed as they will be getting married while home for Christmas. They will then get housing and start their married life together. It is hard to believe what the airfare is costing, way too high!

Good Afternoon Michigander N4Ms! Has anyone gotten the white stuff yet? My Sailor keeps asking is it cold and snowy yet? I think he is waiting til he can brag how warm it is at his base. When we get some i'll be sending him some pictures. Hope we have a white Christmas when he comes home, well we are keeping our fingers crossed that he gets leave as we have not seen him since boot graduation. Hope all is well with you and yours!

Flying is my daughter's only option ;) Katie will be coming home from Japan the 30 Dec to 10 Jan. Her airfare is double what it was last year;(

Just wondering if any of your Sailors are coming home for the Christmas holidays and if so how are they getting home? Air fair has gone way up in the past two days and am looking for other options. My sailor is in Pensacola so just curious as what others are doing. thanks

Oh, and even though my kids have graduated, I have to brag. Their high school earned their 13th state football championship yesterday--the most in state history! Woo hoo! I am not too optimistic about Michigan today vs. Ohio State, though.

Yes, Dunesmom, welcome!

For all, happy belated Thanksgiving! Hope those of you who have your sailors this weekend, even if it's just for a short weekend, have a great visit!

We didn't see our sailor this weekend, but we will have him home for two weeks at Christmastime, so that will make up for it. He was adopted for Thanksgiving by a former Marine and his family, along with two other sailors in Charleston (Goose Creek). They watched the Lions game, although that wasn't too much fun, I suppose. The wife even gave them leftover turkey and stuffing to take with them, so he has leftovers! Then, after that full meal, he went out with a few buddies to dinner again that evening. I don't have to worry about him not getting enough to eat. LOL He's doing great, and is ranked 4th in his class at nuke school, only 1/100th of a point away from 3rd. So proud of him!

Good Morning MichiganderN4M's! Just found your group and am smiling and tearing up as i read your posts. So nice to see things are pretty much going as normal for the Navy life that our sailors are in. My Sailor is in Pensacola and i recieved a fb chat yesterday as he hit Phase II. Oh those uniform inspections can stop you short that's for sure. I guess that is another learning phase yes? Hopeing you all have a wonderful day. I'm off to write yet another letter, it gets me through the tougher days. Happy day after Ladies

Ruth, that is so cool to have him share dinner with you and the family that way. I love it!! Congrats to him on the Blue Jacket Plaque and the Achievement Medal, what an honor! I don't know what either means, but I am sure they are quite an honor to receive. Glad it was an awesome day with your Sailor!
