Kathy C, I didn't even know E. Kentwood was having a comp. I was hoping to meet up with you & Ruth at one of these. I wish your son the best on trying to make a decision on joining or not.

My son has informed me that he will be home based in Gulfport, MS for his career. Possibly joining NMCB7. I hope to find out more when I see him next Tuesday.

Ruth & Kathy C - even though I still love those competitions, it just isn't the same without my son in one of those bands. So I tried really hard to concentrate on my neice & nephew.

Kathy C - is your last one Jenison? My son is going to be home and really looking forward to going to that one.

Thanks, Roxy. My son arrived in Michigan around midnight Friday a.m. and just took off for SC a few minutes ago. Was nice to have him for an extra day or so after the funeral. Plus, since he just arrived at A school, we had been talking about what stuff he wanted shipped--he was able to pack up what he wanted and take it with him without worrying about shipping. It did all work out.

@Michimom, I am so sorry for your loss. I am happy for you with having your Sailor home for a bit. Memories, that is what life is all about.

Roxy, GC pretty much closes down for Christmas. Will your son be home for Christmas?

Another welcome, Roxy! I'm in Oakland County, too. My son just got to Goose Creek a couple of weeks ago for A school, but is home this weekend for my father's funeral, which was yesterday. A sad occasion, but we all were very glad our new sailor could come in for it. After the funeral we hung out at my sister's and watched the game, and we could tell he really enjoyed just hanging out with family and watching the big game. Right now he is sleeping over at a friend's, hanging out with his best buddies, before he flies back to SC tomorrow.

Oh, I do miss those marching band competitions!

Hi, Roxie, Is your son in "A" School or power school? My son finished bothin GC and graduated power school in March. I went to his graduation. That one is worth going to....very nice. Scott is now in Ballston Spa working on prototype. He will be on a ship or sub by the new year. I do hope you get to visit GC and that you can make it to the power school graduation. BTW, my son also had some college in before joining the Navy. The Navy has been great for him!

Spent the day in Frankenmuth. Beautiful weather for a soccer tournament. Unfortunately my son's team didn't win a game. Stopped for taffy and ice cream in a waffle cone and walked a bit around town.

Hey all moms, just sent my sailor to Japan last week, heard from him when he got there and have had one facebook post since then. Thought about him a lot today, he would be bumming he missed the MI/MI State game, altho he wouldn't been happy with he outcome:) We lived in Summerville for 6 years, very close to Goose Creek for those who have cubs there. Hope all is well and you're enjoying our wonderful Michigan fall weather.
