Chris, count me in for adopting the deploying troops. I have sent care packages to my SIL for the AF when he was deployed to Afghanistan. It is really easy and the Post Office has special boxes with flat rates we can use too.

Kathy B,
Rachel will be flying 53s? Troy is in the "other" squadron at Norfolk that flies 53s. He is enlisted, actually he re-enlisted this year for another 3 years.
It's hard to find apartments that will take dogs, harder to find one that will take big dogs. I'm glad Rachel was able to find one.

Kathy,
Congrats on your daughter's winging! Does she know what squadron yet?

My son got to Norfolk a couple of weeks ago. He found a nice apartment to rent in Virginia Beach, has 1 room mate and they are looking for another. He sounds really busy, but hopefully he will get to come home soon.

Chris where is the meeting at and what time??
Ruth, we didn't stay at the Navy Lodge in chicago but heard from other people it was not as nice as it could have been, we did stay at the on in Groton and it was very nice so it depends on where they are at. Have a safe trip. I go next week to see Rob graduate from his C school at Kings Bay. Our sailors are really moving along.

Good morning, wanted to share this information with you...

http://www.navyformoms.com/forum/topics/def-leppard-raven-drum

Free concert tickets for Dep Leppard concert, they are playing all over the USA. I believe they are in Norfolk tonight and the concert is already sold out but they will be in Atlanta they we think (?) Nick will be home so I requested two tickets for him. They do have a date scheduled for Michigan that I hope some of the sailors might be able to take advantage of. I did post it in the Daily Brief so others might be able to enjoy it but please share this with others that might be able to enjoy. Thanks.

Ruth - that is wonderful for chris, I know you are proud. Tell him well done.
Dawn - I know what you mean about the time we have to remember they have their own priorities and be thankful for what they give us. Rob is coming home the end of the month for a week and I know already he has most days planned out with out us. tell Hannah to have a safe trip back and it was nice to meet her in Frankenmuth

Bratsmom, have a wonderful & safe trip/visit! Two weeks is a lifetime now a days.

Penny, it is so wonderful to hear that your son is getting such a reception. My son has told me that he is not sure how to respond to people he doesn't know coming up and thanking him for his service. I have told him to just say your welcome or it is my honor/duty. It sure makes me proud too, just like you are when you witness it with your son. It really does give you a feeling that there still is good and hope here. Thank God for the Navy and all our military.
