Bill Kennedy was older than dirt but had some great movies and they were perfect on a cold nasty day. We just unofficially started referring to them as "Bill Kennedy" days. Wow, haven't heard of the Ghoul in years!!!

Everyone seems to be missing our sailors again, well it's been a couple of months since Christmas for those that had that luxury. It's just weird in our house this week, our sailor turned 22 yesterday, hardly a baby but it is his first birthday away from home and on Thursday - he will mark his one year anniversary with the Navy...that sure went by fast!

Wow - sounds like what we used to call "Bill kennedy" day! Bundle up and watch an old movie! Does anyone else remember Bill kennedy ...or am I dating myself?!!!

Joyce, My thoughts and prayers are with you. I know exactly what you are going through. My son didn't tell me that we could go to Lansing to watch them be sworn in, but I guess that was a good thing since I would have bawled my head off. I cried so hard when Allen left, but only after he walked out the door. He told me not to cry, but I am very emotional and still cry when I think about him being gone. He is so mature and able to take care of himself now. It is amazing to see them grow & mature. Allen has been in the Navy for 1 1/2 yrs now and it is getting easier to deal with, but I still miss him. You will make it through all of this! We all do, what choice to we have? My best to you and Donnie. Penny is so right! Everyone at this website it so awesome and supportive. She made it through and she was having a really tough time too.

Penny, you sound so good! I am so happy that things have gotten so much better for you!

God Bless you all!

Our son had his wisdom teeth removed before boot camp ...the money we could have saved!!! LOL However my old Navy sailor hubby had his all removed in boot camp...a couple of years ago our dentist informed him...he needed them out again............we did not think that was medically possible (?)

Penny, you sound so much better and more in control of your feelings dealing with Jon being in BC! It is wonderful to have this website to come to for others to support you in whatever stage you are in with your sailor (or whatever branch). It is wonderful to see your growth just in the last month. It also helps to know that others are praying for you and your child. I can't wait to talk to you after PIR on March 20th, you will be so amazed how much your son will have matured. God Bless!

Joyce, Allen left for BC August, 2007. He graduated PIR on October, 2007. Went to A School in San Antonio until Dec, 2007 and is now stationed in Virginia Beach, VA til whenever. He really loves being in the Navy and what he is doing. He still has to go to more K9 training in San Antonio to become a full fledged Handler, but is looking forward to that too. It is very hard to let go and you, I am sure, will cry lots of tears when he does. But, once you hear from him and see him @ PIR it will all be worth the pain & struggle. He will come back to you a MAN! You will be amazed. Hang in there! We all can relate, because we have been right where you are at one time. God Bless!

Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers! Penny you are so right about how hard it is to let go and trust someone else to do our job. It is so awesome to have all of you to turn to for support.
