Penny, I am so happy to hear that you are now getting the much awaited letter! Then to get two is really fantastic! We all totally understand the 'dance of joy' you did. I am sure we all did something like that when we got ours too. It sure does take a lot of worry off your shoulders to hear from them that they are liking it or surviving BC. God Bless!

Just wanted to leave a request for prayer to all you N4Ms. My SIL got his orders for the Air Force. He leave on deployment on Feb 12 for Afghanistan. He is so excited to go and my daughter is taking better then me and his mother. She is so strong and positive. So is Luke! They amaze me. I am so grateful for them to have each other and being so positive about this. Even though his is in the AF and not the Navy I know all you N4Ms will be praying for him and his unit. Thank you all so much and God bless!

Hi All Interested Metro Detroit Moms,

Well, what do you guys think? Its about time that we should start connecting with the other moms/wifes/gff from our group and plan a mid March get together at Nello's Diner in Royal Oak again.

Personally I'm stretched a little too far this month to do it plus I think spring would be more agreeable for all. Let me know how you feel about March 14 or 21st.

Does anyone know how I or my son can get his picture & dvd from BC? His PIR was in June and he keeps saying he doesn't know where or who to ask about it. I was hoping they would just mail it to his home address but nothing so far. After PIR he went to get it and they were so busy he gave up then went back later and no one was there. And does anyone know if they get copies of their pay showing what's being deducted? Thanks for any help on either of these,Wendy

Penny,
Hang in there! You can get through this to the other side. It will definitely be worth the pain once you see your son marching at PIR. I was so overcome at PIR seeing my son I bawled. Then at the end of the ceremony, the 'stick' (the sailor holding the flag' in front of my son almost passed out. He handed the flag to my son, who was right behind him, and marched out. Allen took over as if it was practiced and didn't even miss a beat. I was so overcome with emotion and so PROUD. When I talked to Allen after the ceremony he told me that he was so nervous but just remembered to follow the other sticks. And he made it through. Your son and you will make it through. We are all here for you too.

I thought I was going to go out of my mind not know what was going on with my son the first week or so of BC. I am so not joking. It was the hardest thing for me to wait for the first letter or phone call from my son. Then it wasn't even a letter to me, but his father (we are divorced) to give him Allen's address @ BC. I literally went to his recruiter's office in tears because I wasn't sure what to expect and when I would be able to hear from my son. The recruiter was so sympathetic and understanding! He assured me that I would be able to get through this and that he would also be there for me if I needed anything. Once I was able to write to Allen he asked me to write EVERY day. My son, who usually is very none affectionate asked for all the letters that I could find time to write. It was the best feeling to write to him and know that he was enjoying every one of them. Just remember that you will always have all of us here to get you through this too. My son is now on his 2nd year in the Navy. I still miss him always, but know that he is where he wants to be and is so grown and mature. Being a mom NEVER stops, you just need to re-adjust.

Good morning all - yesterday was almost wonderful. We had a luncheon here in GA for the Navy moms and 17 attended and it was alot of fun and then I got home and realized...I had not heard from either our son or daughter! Daughter is four hours away at school. Son is 10 hours away at C school but both are wonderful about calling/texting. Three or four times, I said to my hubby I cannot believe I have not heard from the kids today --- well he just HAD to tell me that they both texted him that morning and then he HAD to say...and what are you going to do when he reports to the ship and ...............there went my good day! Hope all is well in MI!
