For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Ohhh the girlfriend thing! It's amazing how often that issue is popping up on this site. My son had a very strong relationship before he left for boot camp, was afraid that might even marry and she was nice enough but just not who I hoped for but sometimes you have to say, well if it makes them happy...right? She was JUST so busy during his boot camp days that she was only able to send one or two letters during the eight weeks, could not go to PIR cause finals were around the corner and lo and behold, when he got to A school - they went their separate ways. I tried not to be TOO happy about it but I think he is still young at 21 and he's got six years of Navy ahead of him - go see the world, enjoy yourself, focus on the plan!
Does mean if he found a great person that I would not support him like you have done Lisa but hey...if it takes him 10 years to find that special gal - I'm good with that too!

Congrats to your daughter Melissa - that is something to celebrate for sure.
My nephew did the reserves program and lives in Pickney (sp) and he has been home for two months and hasn't been able to find work. He is now on his THIRD interview @ Lowes for a part time job but they have so many applicants to pick from anymore that even a part time job is in such high demand. His sister is a sophmore @ Mi State and has looked all summer for a job and couldn't even find a part time one. It is tough in many states but i think Michigan is certainly the hardest hit. I do hope something starts improving soon for you.

I live a half mile from the Indiana line and things are not well there. My husbands plant was closed in Feb. We have been living on a severance package they gave and unemployment. He's a truck driver who 5 years ago stopped doing long haul to spend more time at home so he drove local $16.50 hr. Driving jobs in the paper pop up from time to time. Only now those that were offering $12 - $16 are now $10 - $12 an hour and cant give 40 hours. You make more on unemployment :( He's thinking about going back over the road :( :( and our son James has said he will stay in the Navy if things are still bad when it comes time for him to rejoin. Our daughter who graduated from college in May has signed a teaching contract so at least she has a job for the next school year teaching high school english!!!!

Catherine: 50 in the next month. Ya if they dont start moving out of Michigan for better jobs. Or in most cases these days any jobs:( Tho not to sure things are much better anywhere else :)

Sherry*Greg's Mom* Glad you had a nice visit and I know how hard it is we have seen James 9 days in the last 1 1/2 years. He is coming home in Oct. and should have close to 30 days including travel time because he is being stationed from overseas to overseas. In case you havent heard I also have a plan to see my son when he gets to Sicily... I'm selling an arm and a leg for the plane ticket.. Ebay was suggested to me. LOL

Sherry, I don't think it matters how old they get...it will always be hard to say goodbye. At least you can take great comfort in the fact that he was happy with his decision to join the Navy and knowing he is doing what he wants - is a a great thing to wish for our kids.
