Ruth VH, yes love is suppose to conquer all. I guess now my DIL has decided to move back to Ohio with family and friends while Allen is stationed overseas. It really is going to be the best for her and the children. Atleast then Allen won't be a concerned for them when he is away. I will be moving back to Jackson, MI myself and that will put me closer to her also. Uli & Caseysmom, I graduated and so did my children from NW High!!! I worked at Flora List in the daycare quite a few years ago. We will have to get together this summer when I get moved back to Jackson. So glad Uli that your hubby is doing so much better! Look forward to being back in Michigan even with the snow.

Hi RUth VH, I know exactly where Kentwood is, my husband works for Spartan Foods and is being transferred from Livonia to Grand Rapids (closing Livonia) so he had to get a studio apt out that way and it is in Kentwood. He drives a semi and figured this is alittle better than going over the road again. At least he won't be quite as far away. I'm sure I'll be out for a visit or two. My son will be at A school in GL for Interior Comunications Electrician - ICE. Right up his alley! Although he's got alot of talents. His wife misses him terribly and is anxiously waiting for a call. The Navy sure tests your patience! I know my son would love to end up in San Diego someday!

Cheryl - Congratulation sto Allen. I can tell you are very proud of him. Hopefully his wife will adjust. I'm sure being pregnant adds to it all, but later won't they be together. It will be best for her if she supports what he is doing and stands behind him. Making the best of the situation and getting support from other wives. Jessica is not alone in this situation and she needs to draw strength and understanding from others. I personally haven't gone thru it with a spouse, but my brother was in the Army for 20 years and they were not together when he was overseas....I can think of at least 4 times, including the Persian Gulf war. In our prayers as are all military families that must be apart.

it has finally stopped snowing here in Troy too...I think around 8 inches...just when I was starting to see grass! I guess I'll be back on the bus again tomorrow

Are you all surviving this snow?? It is still snowing by us, probably about 6-8 inches and the roads are just nasty! Spent time earlier getting the USNA the information they needed since we were just informed they have nothing on our son and he did it back in the fall! UGH!!! Now, we only have one week to get it to them and we have to wait on others to do with they need to do for him too. Stress!!!!!

Just to update those who remember my son Allen, he is graduating from Dog Handler Training on April 1st!!!! He is in San Antonio and is getting leave for one month after graduation. Then he is shipping out for overseas duty station at Diego Garcia as of May 1. He will be gone for one year. His wife, Jessica is pregnant with their first child and is having a hard time dealing with the separation. I am praying that she can learn to handle it all, because this is Allen's true dream. Thank you for all your thoughts and prayers.

I understand anyone can attend the Meet and Greet at the Ramada on Thurs. which we will do if we're get out there earlier enough.
Seeyasoon89...my son will turn 29 @ boot camp in March.
Comment by buslady47 on February 22, 2010 at 1:26pm
actually my son was living in Kalamazoo and waited 10 mo for boot camp. He is alittle older. 29 next mo and recently married. So he did most of everything so far on his own with his wife. She now lives nearby in Clarkston, and waiting anxiously for that 1st call (other than the 20 second one)...Where are you staying in Chicago?
