Supporting our military by way of cards, letters and care packages filled with love & support from HOME

This group is the perfect place to learn all the tips and tricks of packing and mailing care packages and most important, to make a difference for those serving.  PLEASE do introduce yourself in the Comments below!!

Click "NEW MOMS READ FIRST!" here or at right under Pages.  Everything you need to know!  Email newmoms@mollysadoptasailor.com with any questions.

Where is the monthly Adoptee Mailing Address?

To access the adoptees' mailing addresses, you first need to join this private group:  MAS We SHIP Love. Once approved, you can always click here for this month's ADOPTEE MAILING ADDRESS (We Ship Love)

Where is the information about this month's adopted unit or ship?

We provide information about each month's Adoptees and their Wish List in the Discussion Forum below.  For the mailing address, see link above:  Adoptee Mailing Address.

What are Packing Parties?

Ask if one is planned in your area, or hold your own with friends and family!  By carefully following a few simple rules and completing our forms, your group's shipping costs to that month's Adoptees will be paid by MAS (must be a group; individuals don't qualify).  To request information, send email to webmaster@mollysadoptasailor.com.  MAS can also provide you a letter with Federal Tax ID for requesting donations. There is some info. just to the right of this text-underneath the members photo's.. "Packing Party Information" ..Check it out.

What is the most critical or best thing you can send?  Your SUPPORT!

What counts here is the morale of our military and how we can boost it with a touch of love from home.  We have a great time here each month sharing, chatting, planning, packing and mailing our appreciation to our deployed.

Will you get a 'thank you' from the deployed military who receive your package?

We hope you do but can't guarantee it as they are engaged in their vital work and often in harm's way.  Include your email address in your note (best bet) or add a self addressed envelope (no need for a stamp on it) and paper and pen, and ask if a note is possible in your letter.  Replies and photos from our adoptee Point of Contact (POC) will be posted here and on our MAS Facebook page as they come in.

BOXES: Get APO/FPO large priority-mail boxes at your post office, OR call the USPS - 800-610-8734, say "Order supplies" and then ask for the Military Pack.  They'll send you six priority-mail large boxes for military, tape, and labels, all for free.  You can order cases of 10 and 25 online sent for free, too; choose size under "select format" at right on that page.  Send up to 70 lbs per box (that's 7.7 bricks!) at a discount of $2 below the regular rate.

Click here for your MAS (Molly's Adopt a Sailor) stickers.  Please print and add these stickers to your boxes - we get new adoption requests when these are seen on dozens of boxes in the mail!

Questions?  Please contact "PAT L in IL" at newmoms@mollysadoptasailor.com.  Pat is a wonderful source of information.  She can explain to you how MAS works and get you started.  We have a TON of fun here in our group every month, so jump in and get ready to rock with MAS!!

Hi all, just trying to catch up -

I think postage stamps would be well received by our troops, especially if you are sending them assorted or holiday cards.

Tanya, thanks for joining us - you can write a letter, draw a picture, send a card or care package. The address is listed above - under September sailors. Use the same postage as a package in the US since we are using an APO address.

Angie, sounds like you are working on some great packages. I'd offer to help but already have three boxes going out myself. I get so caught up in this program and think if my kids were over there opening the boxes, what would I send them. Before you know it - my basket is full of goodies!

Do they need postage stamps if I send over a batch of assorted greeting cards?

That's a great question Toni, I hope our sailors have plenty of access to good water but I don't know for sure. I'll try to do some homework on this for you but I think shipping it could get pricey.

Hi Linda, I'm don't have any personal knowledge of these phone cards so if you get more info please share.

Angie, thanks for the info on Blue Star Mother's website!

Hi, I learned from my Army mom sister-in-law to use a vacuum cleaner (a clean one) like a new dustbuster and suck out all the air in the zip lock bags for the cookies I send to Korea, Afghanistan, and GL. This helps keep the peanut butter cookies and others from being just crumbs when they get them if you do not stack them but only put them 1 cookie thick throughout the bag.
I hope this hasn't been posted, if it has, sorry for the redundancy.

Mother Mary, In my mailings to the August Sailor. I addressed it exactly the way we listed it. Which meant Billy's name first and then "any Sailor" on the next line. My post office did not give me any trouble with that. I have heard others report that they made them stratch out the Any Sailor. So just to be safe, inside my boxes, I also wrote Any Sailor as well as a letter to them in each box.

Molly, is enjoying her sailor who is at home on leave for the first time so just wanted to comment on a few posts ...

Teresa, from what I understand the box is addressed to one Sailor who distributes it among the group that he represents. As far as dvds, they may watch them together but I bet those dvds get a lot of mileage on them as they can pass them among the troops and many can enjoy! Sounds like you have a wonderful care package in the works.

DeeDee, do you know if these corpsman have joined the anysailor.com program? It is easy to do and all the details are listed on their site, please ask them to check it out if they have not already enrolled in the program.

Pat, I bet that care package for your day care kids will make a few eyes swell up! From the mouths of babes, I'm such it will touch many hearts.

Dear Molly, Just finished packing a box with my daycare kids. They all either wrote a letter or colored a picture. I am sitting here with the biggest lump in my throat at the things they wrote. I told them to write anything they wanted. They all thanked the sailors without being prompted!! I am so amazed....these kids get it!!

Yippee, a nice quiet Saturday at our house so I was able to take the time to put together the boxes for our sailors. Sending two out this afternoon, one with food stuffs and the other full of hygenine items...gotta have our Sailors looking good!

ditto, ditto, ditto

I wonder who enjoys it more the sailors that receive our letters and packages or us preparing them?! It is such a wonderful mission that we are on ladies!
