I hope this is the right place to be.  PIR was 5/16/14.  My son is in Pensacola and has just finished aviation school.  He starts rescue swim school after the holiday.  My son is very tall.  He does very well with swim, run and sit ups.  Since he is so tall, has very long arms and is over 200 pounds the pull ups are very hard for him.  Has anyone else had a son or daughter with this problem?  He is working so hard and has done so well on everything else.

I have a  question in regards to Christmas they let the sailors go home for Christmas?

If your son is in school in Pensacola they did get to come home since the school is closed down.  In my son's case he didn't get his leave approved until late so we couldn't take advantage of the cheaper air fares. Some moms went ahead and bought tickets anyways. I wasn't that brave lol.

Don't miss the RSS graduation! The next graduation ceremony is FRAC. If you are lucky there might be a ceremony for Air Crew wings. I was able to attend the RSS and Frac graduation ceremonies. I was not able due to circumstances surrounding my son's  winging ceremony. Sometimes the winging ceremony is held while they are deployed.  Long, long road ahead!!!

Thank you Sweetpea4

I will make sure that my Son tell me when he will graduate from RSS. If his RSS school start next week I am calculating that by December he will have his graduation then.....

Hello ,

I have a question , my son looks like he is moving fast , he has a couple the weeks to finish the  NACCS and right away he told me that he will start the RSS school . Parents go to their kids  graduation   after he completes their  RSS school or after they complete their A school?

Thank you

Hello,

I have another question in regards to the RSS graduation. I know my Son start Rescue Swimmer school but I do not know when he will graduate . He does not call me , I assume that he is really busy but how I can obtain information about when he is going to graduate ? I need to buy the airplane tickets and made hotel reservations.

Thank you !!!

Brand mom
Things change all the time. He won't know until a few weeks or days before. You must remain flexible. This is a very difficult part of training. There will be set backs so prepare yourself. The first 3 weeks are the the most difficult and the highest attrition rate. Good luck!

Thank you sweetpea4 , I spoke with him today he was exhausted , they did the helicopter escape. I keep encourage him. He told me that as soon as he knows the graduation day he will tell me. Also told me that next Wednesday he will graduate from the Aircrew School.

Awesome,

The real challenge begins with RSS. Very, very tough physically and mentally they will try to break him. Stay calm, supportive and understanding this is grueling. If your Son has setbacks be there for him. They all do at some point in t his training. He must stay very focused and do every little thing they show exactly like it was shown. ATTENTION to every detail!

I really appreciate your information and advice.

Thank you !
