DC,
I put my two cents (vote) in!! Sue is pretty close but she needs more votes to take #1 spot.

Well yesterday, he called and talked to Dad to ask permission to marry our daughter. Went to his Chief and said he needed some time off to propose and the Chief gave him the whole day off!! When Catherine got home from work she found a red ribbon strung throughout their little apartment around a bottle of champagne, red roses and a fancy dress with a note to get dressed up he was taking her out to dinner. He was out picking up the ring!! Took her to the top of the space needle in Seattle and dropped to one knee!!!! It was so romantic!!!
Who wouldn't fall in love with a guy like that!!!! There were other people there and they were oohing and aawing!!!!
I pray they have many, many happy years together!!!

Love your graphic, Blondie! It's very true.

Oh, I get the meltdowns from "the granddaughter" sometimes. When she broke up with her college boyfriend, she called immediately. She said she knew that if she told me, she would keep her resolve when he tried to make up. She said that her mother and dad would okay making up but that I would bonk her on the head. When she broke up recently with a boyfriend, I got a call at 6:00 a.m., all tears and sorrow. So while it is not the same as mother daughter, we do have a close relationship. I value it.

I have a favor to ask of those of you who are on Facebook. As you know, I belong the the N4M group, Heads at Ease, and we make pillowcases for deployed military. Last fall we had an NFL theme and made pillowcases that represented the favorite teams of the members of the units. I bought some of the fabric from J and O Fabrics and right now (until this weekend), they are having a contest for uses of the NFL fabric. Would you please go to the polling site

http://www.facebook.com/#!/JandOFabrics?v=app_20678178440&ref=ts

and vote for Option R, Sue Lamberson. You will see my name there as well but please do not vote for me because we want all votes concentrated in one place. The winner will get a $50 gift certificate which we can really use to support our project. You can view it as a vote for us is a vote for the military.

Blondie, my BP has been creeping up and I need to call my cardiologist to discuss it with him. I think I caught it from you!

That is so true NavyMom!! I remember when I would call my mom all the time when something good happened (or something bad). To this day, I miss just calling my mom just to check in.

Joanne,
I love those moments when I find out I'm not the only one who has the same situation. It is so comforting to know we aren't the only ones feeling like this. Time for a glass of wine for me!!!

Blondie,
LOL That was such a cute story about your daughter asking you questions and then he comes asking you questions. Several months back Catherine and her boyfriend were having a discussion and he said - well can you call your mom and ask her?? He did not have a mom all the years he was growing up - his mom left him and his dad, then he had a step-mom for a while but they divorced also. I thought it was sweet that he knew Cath and I had a good relationship so she could ask me!!

Joanne,
You and I should get together over a bottle of wine and pour our hearts out to each other!!! I also have a hard time sometimes when I call Cath but her and Nick are doing something and she doesn't want to take the time to talk then!!! It was funny during his last deployment on the sub, she was calling me just about every day because she had no contact with him except the occasional email. Suddenly Mom is her #1 go to person!!!!

Blondie,
Oh yeah - you are so right about the TMI!! lol My mother would be blushing in the grave if she heard some of the conversations my daughters and I have had!!! It is so good tho to have that closeness that they can come to us with anything but sometimes . . . . . . . . .
