Moning ladies, Pat let me know if Jenn needs someone there. I am up unusually early this morning because my recruit called Dad's cell this morning with more questions. Seems we are getting more phone calls then letters. Good to hear her voice, sounds stronger each time she calls. Week 2 / Day 1 for her and past prelim PT with flying colors. Says she has her first academic test on Monday. Asked about her RDC's and she said they were fine to her. Said she would possibly get her first social call next week. Can't ask for anything more. I hope everyone stays warm, dry and healthy today. Off to work out before work.

Pat, I do understand your frustration. I agree with Blondie that it might be easier if you knew what specifically they are testing for. I wish Jenn would become a more assertive patient and make the doctors discuss things with her completely. There's a good book my son gave me to read. The name of it is something like "How to Talk to Your Doctor." It is written by a doctor and he talks about how doctors diagnose diseases. He does comment that usually they look at a herd of horses and see a herd of horses. The problem is that sometimes there is a zebra in among the horses and they frequently do not see it. They still only see the herd of horses. An assertive patient who asks intelligent informed questions will sometimes jar the doctor's attention and make him/her see the zebra. I really do recommend that you both read it.

Many years ago I was probing my oncologist about something. She made the comment that her "bad" (questioning) patients always made her think. She went on to add that her "bad" patients usually lived longer than the "good" (accepting) ones. Sometimes her "bad" patients made her read deeper into the medical journals which was definitely a good thing. Jenn needs to become a "bad" patient. Now this does not mean argumentative.

It's a gorgeous day but getting chillier. Forecast is for snow later this week. I'll have to dig out my down jacket soon at this rate. I'm off to go swimming in a couple minutes. I just wanted to say hi.

Joanne, I did think you were telling us to be quiet!

Pat, I seriously doubt that this fox was rabid. I have seen some who I suspected were rabid. This one was just having fun. Its coat was so healthy and glossy and the tail was as pretty as I have ever seen. I am aware of rabies risks and I do take care of any animal that is unusually unafraid, especially if it does not look in good health. It is not only a worry in Florida. We have seen a couple up here that concerned us. It has been a problem some years in Virginia as well. It was so bad one year that one of my friends carried a cut down pitch fork to and from the school bus stop.

I forgot to mention that my nephew, a Marine, is a member of the air crew of one of the Ospreys that will land on the New York during the ceremonies.

Joanne, I will check at the grocery store for those bug repellent wipes. I think that's where I saw them.

Blondie, I can imagine that you are getting excited. Please do have a safe trip. I pray for a safe trip for your sailor as well.

JM, if you are in the SD area, I guess my grandson who is at Marine BC had rain as well. At least he is back from the field and it won't be as bad. This week is team week, a bit of a breather before the push for graduation.

It was 32 degrees here at the house this morning. There was a heavy frost. We had a gorgeous fox come into the bird feeder area. He was probably looking for the turkeys. Then he lay down and pushed his body along the ground, rubbing and rolling in the frost. We have never seen a fox do that before. It did it for about five minutes.

NavyMom, I am so glad you were able to talk to your sailor this morning. I had that pleasure this morning as well. It does start the day off nicely.

The USS New York set sail yesterday morning out of Louisiana on its maiden voyage to New York City. It will be commissioned on November 7. I would love to see it sail into New York Harbor. That will quite a site ... the sailors manning the rails, the fire boats and other boats in the harbor. V.'s boyfriend is assigned to that ship so he will be one of the plank owners of it. What fun!

Woke up to rain, I thought it never rained here. Oh ya that's a song. We really need the rain so we are glad for it.
Blondie drive safe and enjoy the moment. I will keep my fingers crossed for you sailors travel plans.
Joanne stay warm today.
Pat - thought about Jenn a lot last night. Hope there is SOME news today.

I don't understand why the appointment is at 10 pm at night. Especially with the vision concerns.
