Pat I think you have me confused with Lisa, who is another mom and friend who is having a tough time with her D. My D is an IS and wants all the letters she can get from us.I just happen to be pushy when I want something. Lisa has an OS D and under the thumb of a step . One of those frustrating things.

Hi Ladies. Well I did it I , no didn't get the kid in a box, or my letter. But I was sucessful in worming my D's address from the recruiter. It took 2 extra hours since noone could find the missing information of her original recruiter. Which made it possible to look it up. I have already sent out 5 different pieces of mail not including her stationary supplies. I have her ship (07) / DIV (005) so just waiting for the information to post on RTC about her PIR.

Raineegal, Steel cut oatmeal is sometimes called Irish oatmeal. In our store, I have to get it in the natural food section. Mine comes in a round tin about the size of a coffee can. It has a white background with black and gold lettering. The brand is McCann's. Now the Irish will cook it overnight. I prefer not to cook it that long. I like the texture and long slow cooking makes it too mushy for my liking. People who like it that way probably think my way is awful. Even so it takes about a half hour to cook.

Blondie, I am so sorry to learn of your loss. It is hard to lose a love one and I can see where losing three in one month would emotionally drain you. Many hugs.

I need to go back to read postings but will have to do that later. I have chores I must do first. I just wanted to say good mornng!

Morning Ladies. Blondie so sorry about your Aunt. Must be so hard on your family. I will pray for you.
With any luck the weather will be nicer on the West coast today, right now I would prefer the 80 to the 90.
Expect to get both the kid in the box and letter today. Fingers crossed.
Have good days ladies and hug your loved ones.

Lisa, your daughter has you cheering for her as well! I hope someday she lets you know she appreciates it. Many hugs! It is hard when our children are estranged from us ... I know!

Raineegal, I have heard that it takes quite a while to get released from BC. I will pray that something changes and she gets to stay in. I think there is a small glimmer of hope in that they are keeping her active in the rest of the training. Hopefully, whatever they see in the records will change their minds.

Linda, I was trying to think of the name of the children's book. Thanks for posting it! The use of an ipod before she goes in is a great idea. There are apps that provide interval training and there are running programs that have different beats.

Love the picture of Linda's Jenn. What a wonderful smile and a fantastic frog. We our boys were little there was a marvelous big toad who lived in the tornado shelter. They had so much fun watching it. There was also a big tarantula that would "attack" a stick if it were moved in proximity of it. Our sons were taught never to tease or abuse either the toad or tarantula.

I used to have a hair dresser who had a sign on her mirror. It said, "I'm a beautician and not a magician." I kept telling her that really I needed a magician!

Pat, I want that wrinkle stuff when they make it!

V. said she is interested in helos. How did Jenn get those? Yesterday we were wondering how the Navy decides which plane type you will work on. Can Jenn provide insight into that? I think it is great that Jenn works on the helos that carries the rescue swimmers. It sure is critical to the success of the mission.

You know what is so neat about the Navy? I think it is neat that even the most seemingly menial job is important to the success of our Navy. If someone did not scrape the paint off so something could be repainted, rust would take over. If someone did not haul out the garbage, the ship would be a miserable, unhealthy place. But then this is true about society in general. I always smile and wave to flagmen (flagwomen). They do a critical job that is very boring. They usually look surprised. I "over"-tip a waitress in a diner serving breakfast because s/he works just as hard as the waitress in a fancy restaurant. Why should she earn so much less just because the bill is so much less?

I hope that Jenn's spinal tap goes well and is relatively pain free. I have not had one nor have I heard much about I have heard that after it, you need to stay flat on your back for a period of time, otherwise you will get an incredible headache. She does not need that!

Marianne, it is cool, chilly even, and rainy. It is a good day to curl up with a good book but I think I need to clean house. More company coming next week.
