lol...I had a hard time going to sleep but a very easy time waking up! All I could think was, "If I'm late he's going to think I haven't really missed him all these weeks!" That was my real motivator for getting up EARLY each morning in Chicago. Have a wonderful day and enjoy it all.

Ellen the sailor girl looks sooo good! I liked having the IS info at the top but I do believe the vintage sailor is even more eye appealing. You done good! How are you and the brood here and abroad?

Anna, LOL. I was checking my friends page again and again you were online late. (Tell Jennifer it really didn't take a rocket scientist to figure that one out) I'm so glad you are enjoying her time off with her. Maybe you will eventually be able to live close enough to Catherine for a while that you can enjoy her as well. Just had to harrass you a bit. :)

Vikki, I know kind of what you are going through. My ex-husband's mother had a hyterectomy several months after we were married. Only having my husband and his brother guess who got stuck with taking care of her! That was way back when they kept you high as a kite for at least 24 hours and in the hospital for 5 or 6 days! I had to go through it again when she had a lump removed from her breast about a year after that. Just too much.
I am glad that your M-I-L did not fall! I feel for you, girl.

Barbara, you just keep too much going on at one time! I could get dizzy just trying to keep up with your happenings. :) It's all in what you get used to. We are just too laid back in the South.

Parakeets in the wine? Oh my! What a waste of good wine! I love all my birds...so long as they stay outside.

Jeri, I know you are having fun but congratulations again. We look forward to hearing from you in a few days with all sorts of stories and new questions. You should by now be able to tell her a lot of what she is in for! We are proud of her, and Anna's Catherine, and Dawn's Yeoman daughter in Hawaii and all our other gals out there serving. Hoo-rah Kayla! Job well done!

Man - I talk too much!!!!

Mary,

Sorry for the confusion - my cannot comply was in response to you telling me not to stay up late watching movies. I told my daughter about that and she said Mom - these Moms know you too well!!!" We were sitting up watching a movie then - stayed up till almost 2!!! It's times like these I really miss my other girl!!! BTW - Catherine took her PS3 advancement test today!!!

I admire you ladies that like working in the garden. I never did like the outdoor gardening. My mother always had such beautiful gardens, people would pull over to the side of the road and look at all her flowers. Of course now I don't have any yard to worry about. But I am going to try to keep a container garden of some of my mom's flowers. We'll see how that works!!!

Rene,
I know how hard it is to let go of your son, also. I guess because this is Chris's second time around it's not as difficult not hearing from him as often. We still talk once a week but I try to call or text Catherine once a day!!!! But with Chris being my first one, when he left in 2003, I didn't think that ache was ever going to go away. And stupidly I thought when Catherine left last July, that it wasn't going to be as hard because I've been through it once already. So what I'm saying is - it doesn't matter how many children you have - when they leave for the military it is such a sudden break in our mother/child relationship that it does take quite a while to loosen up the grasp. And when I think about it - your comments about Jared wanting a little space - my Catherine is saying some of the same basic comments to me. They want to go on - WE just want to hold on!!!! I remember saying goodby to Chris at the airport after Christmas and I couldn't keep the tears from coming. Even then he said - come on Mommy (he always calls me Mommy!!) you know it will be OK!!!
And the greatest thing of all - - - none of us should ever be ashamed of how close we are to our kids and how upset we get when they leave. How many kids are out there that don't have parents who care about them at all!!!
Ok, enough on the soapbox for me!!!!

Rene, you just keep checkin those comms, baby girl! Gotta get that info somehow, right? Speaking of babies?...How is Mr. Jackson and mom the past couple of days?

Anna, non compliance? Uh-oh. Security breach!! :) It's ok, you have enough experience that I know you wouldn't give out too much info. You'd think that they (Nabisco) would be a little more open to recogizing those who serve and eat thir foods.

Valerie, my thoughts are with you today as you attempt to resume some type of normalcy once again. It will not be easy. Every time someone mentioned my dad when I first went back to work, I just have to tear up and turn away. It happens and people understand. You let go when you need to. I hope you do alright.

Have a good day all!

Diane, I told Chris to be on the lookout for Frank. All I could really tell him is that he is one of Jared's roommies. They will find each other soon. He is supposed to call back tomorrow and let me know how he did on platforms today. They had a fire drill this afternoon so his was the only test that didn't get graded before. They will get their results tomorrow. He said this one kicked his ***.
I tried to warn him! Now they've moved the test and brief next week on the unit up one day. I suppose he will be at the schoolhouse all weekend. He'd better be by the sounds of it!

Rene and Valerie, I hope Wes and Jared both made it back ok. I told Chris that they were both supposed to be returning this evening.

Anna, I'm glad you didn't tell those Oreo folks too much. Remember we are IMs, we collect info, we don't give it out! teehee!

Suzanne, where are you staying at VB? I have a room at the Hampton near Norfolk right now but I will possibly cancel tomorrow. If Chris does ok on platforms this week it won't make sense for me to go Easter weekend cause he will have duty Friday and then he will have to spend the weekend studying for his final that week. If it's like Jared then his final should be on Easter Monday. I wouldn't get to see him if he's at the schoolhouse all weekend or on duty. If for some reason he does not pass platforms and gets put on hold then I'll go up that weekend. As much as I want to see him, this is one time I'd rather wait. You know?

Y'all have a good night. Anna, don't stay up too late watching movies!!!

Valerie,
So good to hear from you again!! I know it will still be several rough days and weeks ahead for you - know that you are still in our thoughts and prayers. I know there are still times when I reach to pick up the phone and call my Mom to ask her something. I agree with you - many times I asked her how she handled a particular situation and wondered how she did it all. And Wes also. He is going to have to put all this behind him and jump right back into those tough units. But I hope he comes back refreshed and will be able to plug right through.

Rene,
You need to keep reminding all of us Who is in control so don't hold back. I know it's hard to send them back. It seems the visits are always so short. I hope he's able to get the process for going active worked out quickly for him. It seems funny to me sometimes how long it takes the Navy to do things. I wonder if it's like that for other branches also. Oh well . . .

By the way - I didn't give Nabisco our idea!!! I told them it was our service men and women and oreos but didn't go into specifics - - - I didn't want them stealing OUR ideas!!! Mary is right - they are double stuffy people!!!

Jeri,
Just saw your post - - - CONGRATULATIONS!!!
Anna
