Thanks Wanderlust! No he is not grad and go and I know there is at least 4 or 5 divers in his division. I know of like 3 on my PIR page and at least one other. So hopefully it won't take long. And yes we have to return him to the base every night. But luckily we are staying on base (his uncle is a master chief or something...can't remember) so it won't take us forever to pick him up. Hopefully. Haha. I am just ready to see him! We will have been together 2 years on 5/2 and I turn 20 on 5/3.So I am wayyyyy anxious!

Inaipaul- What time was your son's dive school graduation? Congrats to him and you for getting there! ;) My husband is probably the oldest in dive school, haha. He'll be 28 on graduation day!

Is he grad and go? My husband was and right after PIR ended we got about 30 min with him. We went back to the hotel to wait and he called me about 2 pm to pick him up for the whole weekend. He was the only diver in that group, so it didn't take as long. So yea anywhere from 3-6 hours I suppose.

If he is not grad and go, then he can just leave with you right after PIR. But I guess he has to return to base at night. Not sure about all those rules tho.

Hang in there, 5/6 is so close! :)

Random question but I figured you ladies would be the best ones to ask...

How long does processing take?! Everywhere I have read says 5 to 6 hours...So does that mean that we won't get to see our SRs after PIR for 5 to 6 hours after?! Or does it really go quicker???

Any info on your personal experiences would be AMAZING!

My SR graduates BC on 5/6 and I am just so anxious!

He got orders for little creek virginia. Three hours away from home so he can come home on weekends. He's a mamas boy, we talk or text everyday. Yeah at pre dive you can have cell/ laptop, my son and I skype on weekends but reception on base can be hard at times.
Graduation was awesome. I recommend taking lots of pictures. The best part is bringing him home with me.
my son said that dive prep is the hardest part to get through but once you get to panama city the. First month is tough and then it gets better.
The dive instructors got teary eye at graduation, I cried. They act big and bad but they do develop a strong bond with the boys, the most important thing that they all said was to continue to pay attention to details because out in the real world the instructors are not with them.
it has been a struggle for me letting my son go right after high school. I worried sooo much about what he was going through but he is so different now. He is very mature.

Hey cindy I made it to graduation, I stayed on base but I recommend staying across street at la quinta. Too many rules on base n its hard to go in n out because you need to have your son with you to get in to gate. Graduation was very short but after my son gave me a tour n showed me all they did. I was able to get the video the boys made which was nice. My sons class was small n he is the youngest navy diver in the navy at the moment only 18 so very proud of him. We are in nashville airport at moment heading back to baltimore n as usuall every one of my flight is delayed but its ok because I am taking my son home with me.

Richs mom, sorry I did not get to talk to you. After the graduaton my son took me on a tour and I could not find you. I hope you had a good time. I have the cd of the video the boys made if you ned a copy. I hope you got lots of pictures my son hates to take pictures. Takecare and all the best to your son.
