Ok, sure. I'll get some suggestions from him. Certainly never too soon ;) I've promised my husband a new motorcycle helmet when he graduates dive school. I needed him to pick it out. Of course, its some super special one you can only get online and over my budget. But I think it keeps him motivated, ha!

I thought they would get a nice dive watch with all their other gear too, but my husband says its not that great. They're are lots of different brands. Its not cheap tho, my husband has a thing for watches so the one he got was $375 (I had to talk him down from one much more!) He liked another guy's watch, which was $275. I can ask my husband tonight for specifics if you would like to get one for him.

sailor princess, he can have the phone as soon as he is on leave, but they can't take it back with them at night or when they report back which for us was Sun night., it has to be sent to where they next will be doing their training, some who were staying at GL put it in a locker that you can rent, but we had to wait until we could get his address and then mail it to him.It was so nice when we could talk with him on a more regular basis, 3 more days! for you

I kind of thought that the Navy provides them with all the gear including the Official Navy Dive watch.  Could be so wrong, but I thought I read this.

See I have gotten him a camera, ipod, and various other things like that for his birthday and holidays and things. I was thinking maybe a watch?

Oh okay thanks you so much for the information!

Any suggestions on grad gifts?

Hey Princess!  We brought my son's phone, iPod, laptop, etc. with us to PIR and he was able to use all while he was off-base with us on liberty.  However, his division (or at least the Diver candidates in his division) were not scheduled to move over to their new digs until several days later.  So, he couldn't take those electronics back onto the base with him while he was still, technically, living in RTC barracks.  We stored them off-site in a locker at "LockandGo" (just a few blocks away) and he was able to go get them shortly after moving over to the Diver Prep barracks.
