Okay thank you! I miss talking to him! He is my rock!

Do you have any suggestions on like graduation gifts?? I wanted to get him something but I know that they really can't take much back on base with them.

HEY LADIES! My boyfriend is currently in BC and his PIR is 5/6! I was just wondering how soon after his PIR your son was allowed to get a cell phone again?? It's killing me I can't talk to him and I don't want to have to wait a lifetime after he graduates! I am just really anxious..haha!

Skype is just a program that makes video chat easy, but you still need a webcam (most laptops have them built in now-a-days). I like it and it's free except I just decided to order/pay for the deluxe version which allows us to group chat since my family is now flung to the four corners. I am told there are other ways to do it without Skype, like Yahoo Messenger, etc. It's just whatever you guys become comfortable with.

Thanks for the info!  The Prince is headed into "Pool Week" this week.  Just saw him on Skype and am sending all my most positive vibes his way (and sent a little care package yesterday, but he doesn't know it).  This is not quite as nerve-wracking as BC, but almost!!

I did read the guidelines and no last names which is hard cause that is how our son identifies everyone, he says he doesn't even know some of the guys first names, lol

gerry, when did your son graduate, and where did he get stationed? Did most of his class graduate?

Can we use our sons last name now that they are not at BC? Our sons dive prep started with 35 and 13 made it through! It was tough especially pool week which is the last week, he saw quite a few DOR (drop on request) the first weeks were a lot of book work and he had to take one test twice. He says he knows he is where he is suppose to be and everyone he thought would make it did. I wonder how much harder Dive school will be as this has seemed pretty tough. He loves it though, can't wait to hear from him today. Keep us updated about your son, he can do it!

Cindy:  CONGRATS!!!  I'm very excited for you and your son.  Mine is scheduled to grad from Dive Prep April 20 and we're just holding our collective breath.  He hasn't faltered at all yet, but tells me he's been tested (like, button-pushing, emotionally tested) over and over.  We just keep reminding him it's all part of the process and that we're rooting for him.  ;)

Any idea what percentage of your son's group made it through since they started?  We have been expecting a pretty high attrition rate, but so far (they're a little more than halfway) only one guy has dropped!  I've been sort of surprised.

Congrats again, I know you're very proud.  :)

Ozzie, my son came home for a couple days after dive prep because it fell around thanksgiving. I know some of the other guys went home also for a couple of days and some just flew straight to Panana city. It was nice having him home for a couple days before he went to panama city. He was also allow to come home for a week during Christmas because everything closes for the holidays so it worked out great for me.

Wanderburst - I think my son will be using some leave time and also will be getting some more time to come home before shipping of to little creek virginia and he will be able to come home on weekends which will be nice. We live in Baltimore and what he told me is that they like to station them as close to home as possible the first time. He told me he just wants surf board and to be a beach bomb this summer I think he deserve it lol.

Richsmom- have not heard from you in a while. Hows things. Hope to meet you in April at the boys graduation. I know my son also goes fishing on the pier with your son. The boys love it, it is a good way to destress.I will be in panama city this weekend to visit my son. My ten old wanted to spend his birthday with his brother so we are spending the weekend in panama city. We are hoping to have dinner at jimmy buffet resturant and hope the other guys from my sons division can come celebrate my little ones birthday. Richsmom I told my son to invite your son. Will take pictures.
