Hi girls!  I'm a bit startled by the use of the "L" word in LadyHawk's comment (Lottery).  Is there an actual name-pulling??  Color me dense, but I thought there was more merit involved in being selected to participate in ND "A" School than a lottery system.  Is it really by chance?  Hypothetically, if my son were top of his Diver Prep class, is it possible that he could miss the opportunity by a luck of the draw?  We've been kind of operating under the assumption that busting his butt would pay off!  LOL!

Oldest of 4  Being rolled back isn't the worst thing in the world. He is sick and couldn't complete the training, but they see something in him that they don't want to give up on.  They are giving him time to get better and be more able to compete the program.  If they didn't think he could do it healthy they wouldn't give him a second chance. He will have to start over but that just means he'll do everything better next time because he knows what to expect.  Keep your chin up and encourage him.  My son was rolled back in Dive prep and they didn't give up on him and he is doing just fine.  Good luck and God Bless Your Sailor.

Ger

Thanks for letting me know my info was correct.  Sometimes it's hard to get what my Sailor tells me straight.  I hope you don't mind me asking.  Where is your Diver stationed and what is he doing exactly?  My son says he doesn't know what he'll be doing if/when he graduates.  It could be anywhere doing a number of things depending what is needed when he graduates.  Is this what you recall?

Hello to Ozzy and LadyHawk    I don't have tons of info.  My son has been in PC for about 2 months now.

But this is what I know.

In Great Lakes also known as GL they will be in a special Div for special ops candidates during boot camp.  An 800 Div. When my son went through there were 14 different divisions.  The 800 divisions from what I understand get worked quite a bit harder because of the jobs they are going for.

After boot camp they will remain in GL for Dive Prep which is about 2 months long.  Thier stay maybe longer if they have to wait for more candidates to form a class.

After they pass dive prep they will go on to Panama City.   My son is in the process of that so I can't give you too much more info other than I think that is about 5 months long.

I do believe that if and when they pass Dive school in PC they will then be assigned a duty station and any remaining training will be while on duty.

If anyone knows anything different please feel free to correct and educate us.  :-)

It's hard but if they want it they can do.  Good luck to your Sailors.
