Hi everyone how's thingsgoing I hope everyones kids r doing okay in dive prep. I visited my son this weekend. It was sooo wonderful spending the weekend with him. Him and his little brother had fun catching. I think the boys have their hell week coming up in november. I ask that we all pray for them. It has been really physically tough for them all I guess. Bye

thanks richsmom, i actually talked to a recruiter on chat today, and he said they always deploy on vessels, very large chance of deploying on a carrier(:

nicole lee I wish I knew the answer to that myself. I think it has to do with what their specialty in dive is.

Congrat Lee Ann. Graduating dive school is a huge accomplishment. My son is still in Dive prep. It has been very physically hard on his body. I am a little curious. I see some kids graduate in about 5-6 months from PC . My son said he has to be in dive school for 38 months. Why is that different. I am very new to the whole navy thing. My son does not know day to day of what is going on. He got his butt beat up this week. I can only give him pep talk to help him. I should be visiting him this weekend. I can't wait. This dive prep is surly kicking our kids behind. I pray for them all everyday. They are soooo amazing young people. bye

This is probably an odd question, i've looked so many places for this one answer..NO LUCK.

Navy Divers - Will they deploy on Carriers? Destroyers? Frigates? or are they mostly shore?

Lee Ann That is awesome. My Rich is still in dive prep. I can only wish that one day he will be in an event like your Josh. God bless him and all of our sailors.

Wanderlust - I think your hubby's div won the captains cup. Congrats!

The 4-5 weeks time frame you are talking about is when my sr mentioned the training in a letter so I wonder if he was told that he would have another chance when he gets to Pensacola since there was only one spot open? His letters are very short and to the point so I never have the full story. He asked his recruiter a few months before he left for bc but nothing opened up and he didn't want to delay going to bc so his recruiter said to try after he went in. I did send him a letter this morning to tell him to test for special ops before he leaves boot camp if possible and what you guys said. What he does with that information is up to him, but I appreciate the advice. His A school is only 6 weeks for AM or AT (I don't remember which) so maybe they will give him a chance to change it since that was one of the lowest careers he qualified for. He was so focused on BUDS at the time that I don't think he thought much about the career he was choosing since he didn't think he would be doing that. I think it only really hit him that he would be actually stuck in that job right before he left.

My husband is still in BC and actually switched from SEAL to Navy diver when they did Classifications in BC. It was about 4 or 5 weeks into boot camp and he said there was only 1 spot open at the time. So not sure about when he can actually make the switch once he goes to A school, but he might have to wait for a spot to open up as well. Hopefully someone else can give some insight into switching once he is in A school. It was really stressful on both of us while he was trying to decide to switch from SEAL and I actually sent him information posted in this group, so thanks ladies! :)
