For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.

**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.

**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Comment by proudmom on April 13, 2023 at 11:38am: This is great info! Thank you so much. They have a FB page, but haven't seen or heard of anything specific to Ombudsman. New to the concept of FRG but have seen it on a couple of navy sites. Is this something I can reach out to directly?

Comment by Kim8 on April 13, 2023 at 10:44am: I forgot to mention...the details for the homecoming were not posted on FB even though the group is private but rather sent via email. The FB page is how we connected with the ombudsman & received info during deployment. Also, the FRG for your son's ship is a good resource for ship info.

Comment by CheriH on April 13, 2023 at 10:39am: Very exciting, proudmom! A homecoming is very special. The most important thing is that you son will need to put your name on the list of attendees so that you can get on base. Different bases need different info; some need just your name, some need a copy of your driver's license, etc. He can get that info from his command and will turn it in to them.

After that...it's just fun. Get there early; our son was on a carrier, so there were lots of people. They will direct you where to park; where to go to wait, etc. For us, it was lots of standing, out in the sun. So make sure you are ready for weather and lots of waiting. Take signs if you like. But you will have to carry whatever you take.

Fly/drive in the day before as arrival time can vary. We stayed downtown San Diego (make reservations) and had our son and dil stay with us for a few days before they went back to his base.

My son's ship's ombudsman has a private FB page; that was our connection point. The homecoming was awesome & we're so glad we drove to Norfolk to participate. I hope you're able to make the trip to San Diego.

My son is due home from deployment and we would love to get out there for that. This is his first deployment and we have no clue what to expect or how to make this happen. Thanks in advance!
