To: All California Moms, GFs, Wives (drop in if you are in the in the neighborhood)
RE: Recruiting Officer for our Meet & Greet Events.
I invited Commander Romuel "Roy" Nafarrete to our October Event. He is in charge of recruiting for Northern California (from Ukiah to Porterville, from San Francisco to South Tahoe). When informed that we had a Meet and Greet in Nevada City, he said he would be delighted to drive to Nevada City for the September 13 Event! He is checking his schedule to confirm an Oct date for Los Altos, Santa Clara County, CA (mostly likely Oct 18 - more info to come). Please pass the word, particularly to those thinking about joining. Here is CDR Nafarrete's profile.

It seems - regarding security clearance - that they approach each case differently. They called to say they would have someone come to the house to personally do an interview for our son's clearance. A woman arrived and wanted to talk to only me, not my husband. They also contacted a few of our neighbors as well as his best friend before he heard he was granted securing clearance.

Denise, my son has his security clearance, too, and we were never interviewed either. I do know they interviewed both sets of neighbors on each side and since we had just moved here they interviewed the ones back in MA, too.

Thanks, Chris, I'm glad the ladies get to be included in all traditions.

I think that Erin and Rachel should start some women jet pilot traditions! Feminine equivalents similar to tie cutting for first solos, growing a mustache for carrier quals, When your girls were commissioned into the Navy, did they also do the silver dollar handshake for their first salute?
