My son is going to SERE tomorrow in Maine... I know he will be ok but it worries me it will be so cold there these next two weeks. Anyone out there who had aviators who attended SERE during the winter?

I'm trying very hard to follow the opsec guidelines so I'm not posting names, dates, or locations, but can anyone provide any helpful hints on gifts that would make ship life (on an LCS, am I allowed to say that?) for a helo pilot more pleasant? The only request I've received from DS is 2 blankets, one very warm and one just normal. Says it is very cold at night (not there now, but was in a work up). These are not gifts to mail to him, but to give prior to departure. Any gift ideas at all…

I couldn't stop thinking about the tragic deaths of the three Pensacola aviators in December. My DS had trained there and had only left for a new assignment the week before. I remembered how excited he was to begin his training in Pensacola, and I knew the slain airmen must have had similar high hopes. It was crushing to think that their lives ended so senselessly.

The families of Ensign Joshua Watson, Airman Mohamed Haitham and Airman Cameron Walters will be honored in Pensacola in March. I thought it might help them to receive cards of support from their Navy family. Condolence cards sent to the base will be given to the families when they arrive. They should be mailed by March 1 to this address:

Hello all! My DS just finished primary and is scheduled to report to Kingsville for Advanced training. Does anyone have any info on housing options? He will be married when he reports and after a terrible apartment experience in Corpus, would like to look for a house. What areas are "good"? Thanks in advance for any and all info!

Good morning! I’m a new mom with a DS in the HAC process (helicopter aircraft commander). He is finding it much more difficult than his friends in other squadrons. Does anyone know if the board questions are standard or are the questions determined by the CO? I’ve read on another site that each community is different.

Also, does anyone know what happens if he doesn’t pass? He is coming down to the wire.
