Nancy, My prayers are with you.   I've had to watch both of my parents have a rather prolonged and difficult death with hard decisions at the end.  It is difficult and heart wrenching but know that he has lived a good life and he will be at rest.  Love to all of your family.

Nancy...our prayers are with you and your family.  It is so hard to lose a parent...especially when you have to watch them slowly decline.

Good luck to you son....mine just got to Maine to begin SERE.

OR at least that's what I've been told. You never "really" know their reasons. Just do what you're (indirectly in my case) told to do. :)

@ Leslie - Brandon was in the top 10% of his class so he got one of the first report dates available. He graduated in May and had to be in Pensacola by the end of June.

You're right they don't usually move married couples out to Corpus, just single students. We weren't supposed to have to move to Corpus BUT Whiting was going through the transition of getting rid of the T-34s and switching over to the T-6s. Because of that, there was a shortage of aircraft for the students. They sent his class along with a few other classes to Corpus to avoid getting backed up.

He's in Primary right now and that's why he was sent to New Mexico for six weeks. Around this time of year the weather in Corpus isn't suitable for flying everyday so groups of pilots get sent to New Mexico in the mountains and get double-pumped a few days per week to get through this portion of training faster.

Thanks to everyone for welcoming me!

@ Navy wife and mom - Wow I can't imagine having to be apart so soon after getting married. You must be a very strong person!

@ Leslie - Yes I remember talking to you! :) Nice to hear your son found a nice girl down here. I wish I could. lol. We've been here about 5 months now and I've only made about 5 girlfriends. Maybe he could tell me where I should be looking!

@Navy wife and mom - Thanks! Yes he graduated back in May. Right now he's in New Mexico until the end of March and I'm here in Corpus Christi. I can't wait until flight training is over. I hate moving every few months AND getting sent to almost-nonexistent bases I just want this phase of our lives to be over. Haha.

Congrats on the winging! Is that your son/daughter or your husband that's finished?

Thank you for the  good wishes!! Regarding the winging, it's all about timing. They needed to do additional low level flights and check rides after the CQ's so they all went out to Calif for @1 week and after the last flight the entire base came out and literally hosed him down with fire hose. Then the C/O placed his soft wing patch on and out comes the champagne!!! Make sure someone takes photos of this event.! They are priceless!!!!!

Congrats to him!!  Did he get his "soft wings" immediatly after CQ"s?  Our DS is set to wing in MS in May, so it will be good to hear about the March ceremony.  I know your DS is thrilled and relieved, God bless him and keep him always.

Hello everyone. I'm not a mother, but a wife. I'm new to this group and still pretty new to this lifestyle.

Hi All!!!!!

Life is calming down a bit. My son was just "soft-winged" last week and we are soooo looking forward to his winging ceremony in Ms. next month. It has been a wild ride so far but I'm sure there are more crazy times to come. Now we can't wait to find out where he will be stationed. If anyone can advise me please as to where I can purchase his own gold wings to give him as a gift from Mom I would greatly appreciate it.  I

f I can be of any assistance to other Mom's whose child (child????) is riding this roller coaster please feel free to ask and I am delighted to help in any way!
