JFKBrooklet, lots of pilots have tailook grades and choose P-3's.  Our DS has always dreamed of landing on carriers, that made his decision for him.  He did question the P-3 decision as well, especially since the new ones are supposed to be like 737's (other moms correct me if I heard wrong).  Ask him what his gut is telling him.  The tailhook pipeline is hard work and alot of studying, and takes a passion to want to land on aircraft carriers. My DS is loving every minute of it, and is set to wing in May,  I know that any direction he decides to go will be hard work and challenging, but extremely rewarding. Good luck to him!

We just heard that our SA got tailhook grades, but he is still unsure about what to select.  He really wants the P-8, but who knows when that will be ready.  Does anyone know anything about the chances of getting the P-8 if you select the P-3?  Does it make the most sense to chose tailhook if you have the grades?  What about the E-6?  Please chime in if you have any comments or advice about any or all of the above.  Thank you, all!

AH - wish I were closer, I'd doggie-sit your baby girl!  I've never boarded any dog, always have someone stay at the house - hopefully, you will have this resolved soon and you can focus on having a wonderful reunion with your son!!

navymominohio -- thank you, I feel much better. It has been a trying week. It seems like she is doing worse in the house than better.  Of course, I am getting stressed and I probably have to relax because I know she can sense it.

P3PilotMOM, I'm not sure yet about where we will be meeting up.  I know that we can get a shuttle from the airport to the ship.  I'm hoping to get more information soon.  We can't bail on Tiger Cruise - too much money invested so far.

Paymaster,   I thought about that, but she is very protective and won't let people in the house that she doesn't know well.  We have to invite people in and be there when they come in.  My FIL had a key to the house but she wouldn't let him in because he was not there on a regular basis and we weren't home to let him in.    She does ok at the kennel and they are great with her and she knows them. I just get concerned about her getting lost.  If she's getting lost in the house, I worry about the kennel. Though not many places to get lost, I worry about her finding the door to the run and not snapping at the kennel workers when she can't see them.  She is our great protector but sometimes it works against us.

AH....Our last dog went blind and she did much better being at home.  We found the more we talked to her the better she did.

We had the Vet Tech from our Vets office provide home care for her, so you might check with them to see if they know of someone who does home care.

It is probably silly to get excited about this, but on the USS Abraham Lincoln Facebook page, there is a link to a video on a BBC Broadcast.  It was done about month or so ago and they are just now posting it.   No...... my son was not in the video, but his plane was. There is a shot of a pilot talking in front of a plane and I caught the call sign "Jeeves" and then went back and saw the name.  Yep my own dear pilot.  In just about 2 weeks, we get to see him in Hawaii.   I am scrambling to get things done at work and home.

Our main worry at this time is our dog.  The poor thing is 13 years old and showing it.  In the past month she has gone completely blind from detached retinas.  She is having a hard time of it.  Sometimes she gets around great and other times she walks into things and it seems like we have to "reboot" her.  She gets confused very easily and we now have to take her out the back door with a leash so she knows the way.  We are worried about leaving her for almost 3 weeks, but we don't know if we will ever be able to do the Tiger Cruise again.  She will be going to a kennel that she goes to when  ever we have to leave her. She gets on very well there, but has never been blind before.  I would love to have someone come into the house, but the only person that she really trusts lives too far away to come to her house and she has her own pets to take care of.  Say a prayer for the little girl that she gets on ok at the kennel.  I hate being out of touch for a week though.
