He mentioned that they are not expecting Egypt to be a problem with them returning home but they are keeping track of it obviously.  I saw on the news last night that some ships were off shore and bringing some Americans to the ships by helicopter.  Let's all say some prayers that the US is not going to get involved in this.  It appears as if the military in Egypt is on the side of the protesters and can keep the peace without their being any foreign involvement.

AH.... my gracious. It gets very real doesn't it. I am glad he is safe on deck and has had his experience... prayerfully the one and only.

I got an email from my DS this morning.  He had to divert to Kandahar yesterday.  I am not sue if I understood if it was his plane or another that had problems.  Anyway, he almost had to spend the night with the Marines.  They told him that sleep shouldn't be an issue, as the bad guys don't start rockting the base until the morning.  He didn't have to spend the night luckily but ended up flying over 600 miles through nasty weather by himself to meet the boat before they shut down operations for the night.  He landed nearly 10 hours after he left.  He was tired but he can now say that he has been "boots on the ground in Afghanistan".  I get scared just hearing about it, but I have to admire our troops on the ground that the live this day to day and I say a prayer for their safety and for their families at home.

Just read Paymaster's comment to TNNavymom and had to laugh out loud!  That is soooooo true. I basically know nothing of my son's first 5 years in the Navy. Then he got married and now I have a pipeline. He will answer direct questions so once I have the basic background intel from his wife I can ask intelligent questions. And I get answers!

We thought the winging would be more mid-summer.  Now our oldest daughter has her wedding planned for May. So we are hoping for the best!

Sorry Nancy, haven't been on in awhile, home recovering from surgery and had some time to catch-up!  I can usually get more info from one of his friends that is on the helo path in P-Cola.  Came and stayed with us for Thanksgiving and a few days at Christmas, he is my usual source.  If there is a Mom in Detroit, and this sounds like your Son, he is a fine young man!!  Donna

TNnavymom....You need to follow the golden rule with son's.  When you have a son and they don't talk about thing, you need to make friends with someone that has a daughter or one of his buddies that has a wife.  That's how the rest of us find out what's going on:)

Hi All,  Our DS is following the strike curriculum in Meridian. He shares very little with me,(says I worry too much.)  When they go to Key West for training, what does that mean?  Carrier landings?  He did mention that he hopes to wing mid-May, I can say that he has been flying almost every day, no more waiting on planes like Corpus. Thanks for any insight.

My son has a garage that his car is in while on deployment.  He put gas additive in it that you can get at dealers that help for long times away so the gas does lacquer up in the gas tank.  I guess we'll see when he gets back if it worked.  About the dog, I really don't know.  He doesn't have one.  Would a wife of someone there maybe take the dog on?
