AH... that will be so much fun. I am so glad they provide this for parents. You will have a blast, Hawaii is so amazing you won't want to leave, but the tiger cruise will be worth it all... YEAH~!!

Well.... we finally have Tiger Cruise dates.  I am so excited.  I will share everything when we get back.  I am going to be very, very busy getting ready to leave work for about 3 weeks.  We want to spend time in Hawaii first and then a week on the cruise.  We'll see San Diego a bit (that is where the girlfriend is) and my hubby has never seen where Mike lives in Lemoore.

Jane: amazing about the sim, it's great to be in their world and have them do well and us crash...I had my sons sim looking like a drunk bee on the display, how they do it amazes me....but.... I am so glad my son is not landing on a carrier.

Jane....So sorry for all that you are going through right now.  Its hard to be a distance away and deal with family issues.

As for my son he had all the options, jets, fixed wing or helo.  He chose helo's for a number of reasons:  Liked working with a crew, the flight community, the deversity of assignments (land and ship) and the challenges a helo brings (you have to be more coord to fly helo's then jets).

He just signed his commitment papers for 5 more years, so I guess we are in the for long haul (20 years).

Chris - thanks for the answer. So much happens that we do not know about. As for my son, I like knowing when he will be flying or on the SIM or testing. He wants and I take it as an honor to stay in prayer for the specific items. There will always be more than we know (SERE anyone???) but knowing as much as he can and will tell me is a blessing.

On a great note, the kids got a house on the Seaplane base on Whidbey, huge blessing. They will be able to move in as soon as they make the cross country and north to south drive from JAX. As a mom I will be glad when that 2 car (they are towing one) drive with a pregnant wife is over... Lots to pray about there, but at least they have a house and will be settled before he deploys.... HUGE HUGE blessing.
