Staff report
Posted : Sunday Sep 11, 2011 15:43:03 EDT

A sailor was killed Sept. 9 while on patrol in Afghanistan, the Pentagon announced Sunday.

Hospital Corpsman 3rd Class (FMF) Brian K. Lundy, 25, died while conducting a dismounted patrol in Marjah, Helmand province, Afghanistan.

Since March, Lundy had been assigned to 1st Battalion, 6th Marine Regiment, Regimental Combat Team 5, 2nd Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Lejeune, N.C.

Lundy, of Austin, Texas, enlisted in 2006 and had earned the Navy Marine Corps Achievement Medal. He also received the Navy “E” Ribbon for his service aboard the carrier Ronald Reagan, which he served aboard between November 2006 and July 2008.

Keep this family in your prayers...

Had a great time at PIR. Wish I had gotten a little bit better video. Was up in the balcony and people walked in front of me when I was trying to zoom in on the march in. But, I guess it adds character! My son laughed when he watched it. We got him to smile after Anchors Away and got it on video! OOPS! Great moment. It's something I will forever remember!
