My son is also on the Stennis for his first deployment and left behind his wife of 1 year and his 8 week old son, so wishing for time to fly for him to be home and yet time to slow so I can enjoy my grandchild while he is gone.

My son Corey left about 3 weeks ago for deployment on the USS John Stennis for about 8 months. This is his second long tour and it doesn't get easier. He got married to the biggest sweetheart a month before he left and I know this is so hard on both of them. I am so proud of him the man man he is today and can't wait to talk to him when he ports. My prayers are with all the families of the men and woman that are on there with him. Thank you for all your doing and your service to our country.I Love and miss you Corey <3

we live in Pensacola and a lot of the sailors volunteer on Saturday mornings to come to the pee-wee football field and work for the day. I had the job of picking them up from base last year (my youngest son plays). I always get a kick out of talking with them and hearing them talk. It's a good way for them to get easy volunteer hours and all the free food they want. They also volunteer during baseball season. We have a local minor league team that brings them in to work. The Morale/Welfare/Recreation folks do a great job @ NAS P'Cola. Maybe I'll meet some of your sailors in the next few weeks!

Michelle_ Most don't have their cars at A school. They have to phase up to get certain privileges.Phase one would be like being able to leave base but have to be back by muster. Phase 2 might be able to stay out later,  phase 3 they could go for a weekend, etc. I don''t remember exactly what each phase was.My son was in San Antonio and said it was kind of like college with a uniform. It also depends on how long their school is as to what privileges they can earn.

My son is headed to Pensacola after BC.  He arrived to GL on 7/27 and has PIR 9/23.  I was wondering when they will be able to drive or have some free time during A school.  His grandmom and aunt live close to Pensacola and would like to visit with him.
