Where is your son living, on the ship or BEQ? What's his rate. Glad to hear he'll be coming home soon. That's always good news!

Joan:
Congratuations again to John! Job well done! Those PO2's are not easy to come by.

Tinker: I was in Norfolk recently and had a chance to see the USS Mesa Verde. It's an awesome ship!

In The Navy: Here's a search I did for the Anzio ( I used the search feature in the far upper right hand corner of this screen)

Hi Pat! I don't think they have restrictions when they are in Norfolk. Your son will need to check with his command and make sure. Is the Normandy in port and is your son living on the ship? What's his rate?

Hi Angelia! My son is also on the Ramage. What is your son's rate? How long has he been on the Ramage? Congratulations on the first grand child. They are truly a blessing. Our great granddaughter is 18 months old and we get to babysit once a week. We really enjoy her.....

Saturday evening Yvonne and I and Nic (USS Carl Vinson) enjoyed an all you can eat buffet at Pizza Hut, playing 18 holes of miniature golf at Lynnhaven Golf Park, and ice cream at Dairy Queen. Fun evening!

Hey Jenna: You and I can be in 3 of the same groups: Sonar, Destroyer & Norfolk. My son is on the USS Ramage (DDG 61). He came back from deployment last month and moved into the barracks a couple weeks ago. He's in the brand new barracks on Camp Allan (part of Norfolk base). Next to the Sewell Point Golf Course and the brigg. He must be liking it b/c I haven't heard a word from him. I saw the USS Barry when I was in Norfolk last month. If your son needs some info on the barracks, I can give him Matt's number.

Jules, sorry to hear you've been so ill! Yes, bad timing, but I know exactly how you feel. I've been hospitized many times and it's usually not when I want it to happen! lol

The airport in Norfolk isn't far from the base and I didn't think the base was all that big. I hope that eases your mind a little. My son's sponsor was on the ship in the Gulf when Matt left here and flew to Norfolk. He was on his own. But I had given him the number to TPU and he made it there just fine. In fact, Matt loved it so much in Norfolk he didn't want to leave and go join his ship!

Take care of yourself. Sounds like you have been hit pretty hard. :)

My son's first duty station was Norfolk. He was assigned to the USS Ramage. If you go to the ships website, (USS_______.navy.mil) there is usually a link to get the info you need to make contact with a sponsor. That is the only sponsor program I know of. They do not give sponsors to those who drive. Your Sailors are given this information when they receive their orders.

Jules : The number for the USS ENTERPRISE Quarterdeck is (757) 534-3694
