Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Very well put AnnieJ. Our children in the miltary learn to work together as a team with all kinds of people, regardless of thier race or background. We as Moms can do the same for we are all Americans.

Thank you Bea for your hard work and the statistical inforamtion. When I get back, I'll attempt to get more local families aware that we are here by working more closely with the Blue Star Mom's and recruiter's.

mittengirl - I am a Christian and have been since Birth .....I am proud to say that Monica and I are good friends ( and I hope she feels the same way )... I was in all of those conversations and hey I am here when or if someone needs advise or just a shoulder to cry on .... I agree with the two of you and I know I said there are some days we just have to let our hair hang down ...Everyday I wake up wondering what my son is doing who has met up with and I worry , Boy do I worry... Sooooo hey if I have someone like Monica that will share some time with me and make me laugh or Vickyrun who will say hey I am single too and we talk about what we are doing....well it helps me just for a minute... We do have a lot of serious conversations too about our sailors.

Gosh now I feel like I'm just going on an on....

Navy Hugs to all,

When I joined Northern California Navy Moms in Feb 2009, the membership was around 90-95 members with 21 members from the coastal counties and the balance from the inland counties. From August of last year, I sent personal invitations to all new members in Northern California to join this group. Today we have 233 members with 87 from the coastal counties and balance from the inland counties.
Coastal counties: Bay to and including Sonoma/Contra Costa/Alameda
Inland counties: Everything east of Sonoma/Contra Costa/Alameda
Based on these numbers I started a group for the coastal counties; therefore, Susan, there is no need to start a Eastern CA group.
SF Bay Area Navy Families
This is not a either/or decision. Everyone is welcome to join and you don't have to leave this group to join the other one. My feelings will not be hurt if you don't. I am leaving the calendar up temporarily until I touch base with all the meet and greet organizers.
Naturally, I will be stepping down as the admin for this group. Heloisa will be back on the 23rd, at least according to the her blog posted today. I have had a lot of fun getting to know everyone. An area as large as all of Northern California makes it difficult to develop a sense of camaraderie. One group or another is bound to get upset over something.
For those of you who didn't know about the group started by AblueOK just for new members, please stop be and visit. The group was started on Dec 7. As of today, there are 248 members. I have devoted probably 150 hours in the last 40 days helping new members get acquainted with the N4M site - sometimes mentoring new members on a one-to-one basis. I had not planned on so active but one of the starter's daughter just gave birth and another had a sick parent. All newcomers get a message from one of us informing her/him about the groups, the discussions and alerting them that we had several bogus profiles who were data mining for email addresses. The name of the group is New Moms Stop Here.
I wish everyone a successful 2010. May God keep you and your sailor safe.
Sincerely yours, B.

Cool! Another "bubblehead" (I think that's what I read they call submariners). My son is also SECF and just finished basic sub school. He got his assignment a few weeks ago, ET-Navation, is loving school and the experience overall (with the exception of the snow and extreme cold of Winter). He's waiting to get classed-up for the first technical class and then A school.

Early congratulations, RV! Look forward to hearing about your weekend experiences and adventures, have a WONDERFUL trip and visit with your son!

Scott, welcome to the group! When is your son scheduled to graduate, and what is is rate?

Hi Paula, good to see you online again. One thing I've seen with this group is that when someone needs support, it's here in abundance.

It looks like we're all in for a wet week ahead, Hope everyone's having a great weekend.
