Hi all new Nuke Moms, Did you know one of the subjects covered during INDOC is what to do if they encounter snakes or alligators???!! If anyone would like to see barracks at Goose Creek send me an email address and I will send them to you. They look very nice and I liked knowing where my son was living. Again, welcome, and look forward to getting to know all of you! Fair winds and following seas. Pat

I know boomers will have some e-mail opportunities, but depends on a number of things, including how they're doing on quals, or simply whether they are qualified. I'm waiting to find out for sure myself - my son will leave on his first patrol in a month or two.

Boomers are on a 3, 3 rotation. They are out for 3 months with the Gold crew and then out the next 3 months with the Blue crew. As far as I know there is no communication with the crew that is out on the sub.

ADN, wow he's 6'7''. That is one tall sailor. He'll have a lot more head room on the carrier but the bunks are still only 6'. It use to be that the Navy wouldn't let anyone over 6'5" join the Navy. My son's best friend is 6' 4" and is serving on Boomer. He loves it even if he can't roll over in bed.
