They almost always take out everyone's wisdom teeth. VERY rarely have I heard of them leaving someone's in. And I only say that because at one point a Nuke Mom said he had to get his out in A school which probably set him back more than if he had just gotten them done in boot camp.

Having his wisdom teeth pulled at boot camp will NOT set him back unless he has an unusual problem and needs extra healing time. My brother and boyfriend both had theirs pulled at boot camp. My boyfriend, Aaron, even was in a push division. He was actually there less than 8 weeks (only by a few days though).

After he gets them pulled, he'll be given a certain amount of pain pills. He then gets that day of and so many days of light duty. Example: Aaron had his pulled on a Friday. He had the rest of that day to lay around and do whatever and then during the weekend, he didn't have to do extensive workouts, just the simple non-physical stuff.

So tell your fiancée he doesn't need to worry about being set back in boot camp for getting his wisdom teeth pulled. I'd say 90% of the recruits have them pulled while their there!

Hi everyone, just a quick question. Is it mandatory for recruits to get their wisdom teeth out if they still have them? My fiance's are coming in and he's had an infection from them but he's afraid that if he has them out in basic that it'll extend his time in basic.

Hi guys - been ultra busy at work for about six weeks, finally have time this weekend to check in on N4M.

lj - We have a family reunion Memorial Day Wkend - Phillip is asking for leave. Depending on their phase, they can get permission to leave town for the long weekend. I think you can look online for federal holidays and find out what holidays they are out of class. (I haven't done this myself - but some of the Charleston Nuke moms group were talking about it).

I heard from my son today as well!
he did talk like SC was COMPLETELY different than basic..more like a college campus.
He sounded excited. I asked him what he was doing and when his classes start and he said not till May 8th and right now he is basically an overpaid janitor! LOL

Thanks Gayle, I'm looking forward to more calls. He called my husband and said school might not start for 2 weeks. he had to get some more pieces for his uniform. Does anyone know about Memorial Weekend, is it a good time to sneak in a visit to a new nuke?

Good Evening Everyone! PIR was wonderful. Saw our son 4-16-10 for the day. We spent the next day all day at the airport. Navy dropped him off at 3:30 we got there at 4:30 and spent till 6:07 with him, so we had a good visit. Heard from him today in SC. Sounded good but busy. Don't know much of anything, but getting used to no info. lj

Logan will get his orders tomorrow. I hope he finds that he isn't leaving until Sunday too.
