sanddollar100 - We saw the news reports.. Hope our SRs were able stay indoors today..
Well my SR wasn't supposed to leave until Feb, his brother just left Oct 4! So this is a shock, this is my first born son and we are very close. Needless to say I have done a lot of crying. I havn't really had time to get used to the idea... He is special ops and was chosen to go now...I will miss him more than I can imagine. We have never really spent time apart or not talking! Here come the tears again.
Oh and this means 2 trips to Chicago in one month, $$$$$
but I wont miss it for the world!

So far I see shipout dates starting next week the 23rd. Do any of you have a recruit shipping out this week? Just curious and keeping a "head's up" as I start looking for the creator for the next PIR group.
Thanks
If I don't see any answers then I will know it's a "no"!
This was posted last Friday...thought I'd repost.

Each year, RTC coordinates the Thanksgiving Adopt-A-Sailor program for a select group of recruits. This year's program on Nov. 24, 2011 is for those recruits who will graduate Dec. 2 and Dec. 16 (Training Group 3 and 5) as they are the senior divisions who will graduate the week and two weeks following the holiday.
These recruits will be given the opportunity to send home information and the necessary form that must be completed and faxed back to the Public Affairs Office. Only your recruit may send the information and only one form per recruit will permitted. Do not call our office for a form or additional forms; you will need to contact your recruit to request the information if you have not received any. All forms must be received by our office by the close of business Nov. 21, 2011.
Do not expect your recruit to be available for adoption if you do not communicate with our office prior to Nov. 21. Do not "surprise" your recruit by showing up to adopt him/her without informing your recruit beforehand.
On Thanksgiving morning, immediate family members only (mother, father, sister, brother, uncle, aunt, grandparent, spouse or cousin) will be allowed to pick up their recruits and take them off base to spend the day with them. They must be back in their ship (barracks) by 8 p.m. The recruits must remain within 50 miles of the base and no exceptions will be made.
Those recruits in Training Group 3 & 5 who will not be spending the day with families will be adopted by local civic organizations such as VFWs, American Legions, churches, etc. These generous organizations adopt anywhere from 10 to 150 recruits. They take the recruits to their organizations where the recruits spend the day feasting, playing video games, watching movies, having access to phones to call loved ones, play sports and simply relax and enjoy the company of the organizations. Many of these organizations hold fundraisers to be able to provide the recruits with a complete, traditional Thanksgiving meal. No recruit in Training Group 3 & 5 will be left behind.
- Thank you Denise for posting about Thanksgiving Adopt a Sailor. Here is one about when the forms will be sent and some other info.
>>U.S. Navy Recruit Training Command Forms will be mailed out beginning the week of Oct. 24.
>>A recruit can bring along another recruit from the same Training Group. However, the buddy recruit's name must be listed on the form.
>>If your recruit is in one of the eligible divisions, they can only invite one other recruit from the same training group to join them; not two.
*Also, the reason it is TG 3 (PIR 12/02) & 5 (PIR 12/16) is that there will not be a PIR the week of December 9th. RTC occasionally does not ship recruits in a few times a year.
>>There are a few times each year where we do not have a graduation because we do not ship in any recruits. Thus, there is no graduation on Dec. 9. (RTC FB)
*That being said, we will not be looking to form the next PIR group, 12/16/2011, until next week. I’ll start “recruiting” for that this weekend and the beginning of next week.
Ladies if you have not joined your PIR groups...I encourage you to do so!
Here are the links for the current groups:
PIR: Dec 2. 2011 TG 03 - 11 Divisions (009–016, 802, 803 & 903)PIR: Nov 23, 2011 TG 02 - 4 Divisions (007–008, 801 & 902) note it's Wednesday
PIR: Nov 18, 2011 TG 01 - 7 Divisions (001–006 & 901) PIR: Nov 10, 2011 TG 52 - 8 Divisions (367-372, 823 & 952) note it's Thursday
PIR: Nov 4, 2011 TG 51 - 8 Divisions (361-366, 822 & 951)
PIR: October 28, 2011 TG 50 - 7 Divisions (355-360 & 950)
PIR: October 21, 2011 TG 49 - 7 Divisions (349-354, 949)
Well I just made my reservation for my first PIR and will wait on making the reservation for 2nd PIR! LOL I have a feeling the Christmas holiday will mess with it... any ideas? IF he leaves on the 24th when can he expect to PIR?
Thanks
